3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is clear amber with a golden touch. Head disappears quickly. Nose is heavy dark fruits with a lot of dough. A bit boozy. In the mouth, it’s an IIPA with a heavy body, a long medium pine bitterness and a huge malt sweetness. Fresh bread and dried apricots.

Bottle. Nice head and a wealth of aromas! Bananabread, caramel and toffee, citrus, dried fruits. Taste is enormous and this complete and full ale deserves to be sipped. Extremely well-balanced and the alcohold is quite hidden.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
"solid, but i must admit, i was a little underwhelmed by this one. for the reputation that DFH has, particularly this beer, i was expecting way bigger aroma, bigger hops, bigger flavor...this ones just "good". iíll try again some other time...maybe i got an old batch... 3/09 - retried a fresher one...better, but still not of my favorite 2IPAs. too much sweet malt and fruitcake, still quite good, just not on par with itís rep. 8/10-the brandied fruitcake aspect really starting to grow on me. for the first time head to head i liked 90 better than 60."

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Very good IPA. Golden color and pours with little head. Taste is complex. Starts with a unique fruit flavor and finishes with a slight bitterness. This IPA also comes with a nice kick.

Muted. Sweet malty. Dead. Now I do not know the date of the bottle but it was not a repeatable adventure. Disappointing. I like fresh lively bright iIPAs and this is not one of them. Sad:(...

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice copper color with just a hint of cloudy haze; very small light tan head.
The hops are surprisingly subdued for an imperial IPA. Some malt and sweetness. Hops have a little pine to them but also some fruitiness that provides some nice interest.
The taste is mostly consistent with the above aromas except that there is a pretty prominent honey-like sweetness.
Full bodied with just a little bit of an oily mouthfeel. Really nice long complex finish with the hop bitterness, honey and fruit.
Overall this is an exceptional beer. Itís pretty sweet but it works due to the hop balance and overall complexity.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 330ml bottle served in a snifter glass.
A: Pours a slightly hazy dark orange color forming a medium, creamy and light yellow head. Great retention forming tons of lingering and spotty lacings left in the glass.
S: Delicious bouquet of flowery hops. Citrus and piny hops, mainly. Strong notes of tropical fruits: mango pineapple and orange. Sweet malts, caramel, caramel malts. A little booze but the alcohol is very well hidden.
T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of caramel malts, followed by an intense (and delicious) persistent hops bitterness. Hops are quite citrus and piny. Notes of grapefruit, pineapple and watermelon. Perfect.
M: Heavy and molasses body. Medium carbonation. Caramel malts and pine hops in the aftertaste.
O: Excellent drinkability. Bottled perfection :)

A nice balance of hops and malt. More balanced than overpowering with hops. Extremely drinkable.

Sweet biscuit, candy cane, starfruit on nose. Pours a hazy light amber with little head but lots of lacing. Lots of malt backbone, caramel, toffee. Slight bitterness on long finish. Medium mouthfeel with very slight syrupy consistency.
