3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle picked up at GBBF. Pours a clear amber with a white head. Sweet aroma with caramel, light candy and a hint of orange. Medium body, medium carbonation. Quite sticky initially with light toffee and some booze coming through, but then it gets drier with woody resin, light banana, toast, pine, lemon... There’s orange marmalade too - actually quantro. Good, decent balance, not too sweet, with a nice woody grapefruit bitter finish. Tasty.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
A supremely complex and tasty beer that is both well balanced and (at 9%) powerful to boot. The aroma, while pleasant and rather floral/fruity, is not nearly as outstanding or fragrant as certain other ipa’s. Despite the somewhat demure aroma, this beer is bursting with flavor and is easily one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted. It’s strong, sweet malt backbone is complemented by a mildly bitter hop presence and subtle hints of raisin and caramel. It should also should be noted that this beer also provides a nice warming, almost spicy effect similar to that of harder alcohol . This likely has to do with the relatively high yet well masked 9% abv.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
BOD 4/16/14. Clear light amber pour with a touch of ruby. Massive head that retains and laces quite well. Complex nose of tropical, citrus and pine hops over a biscuit sweetness with a slight spicy note. Medium body, but on the higher end and quite smooth, with normal carbonation that imparts a bit of effervescence on the finish. The flavor profile is very complex, but yet well balanced with its 3 main components - hops, bitterness and sweetness. It begins with the hop flavors of the nose, transitions to a mild spicy bitterness and finishes with a smooth sweetness over an alcohol note. As it warms, the body approaches full with a nice oily texture and the alcohol more prevalent in the finish.

12 oz bottle at home. Pours hazy orange with a medium white head leaving nice lacing. Aroma has some caramel, pine, hops and a little bit of fruitiness. Taste is a bit sweet with some caramel, pine and a medium bitter finish. Alcohol not really noticeable. Medium body and carbo. Nice, but a bit too sweet and piney for my liking.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of Dogfish Head’s exemplary IPAs, with a loosely structured, off-white head and deep golden blonde colour with orange hue. Rich and overpowering aroma of apple, pineapple, sweet honeyish mats, lots of peppery, grassy and citrussy hops; taste malty and crispy, lots of fruits, citrus, quickly overwhelmed by a sharp, deep, oily hoppiness, vinous and resinous mouthfeel, some warming alcohol, extremely long. Incredible beer and probably the best IPA I ever had the pleasure to taste.

12oz bottled shared by bastarda@TriState Tasting II. Vegetal, leafy, chocolate aromas with a whiff of toasted almond set the stage for this slow burner of complex, buried and time-released flavours: the fruity sweetness of a grape cordial and caramelised banana and biscuit dough kept in check by a brawny hop astringency, working in the deep and in the back, before opening up into something like lime cordial or lemon zest sorbet. Virtually no abv burn, lingering, near-vegetal raisin dryness. Unusual IIPA, subtly commanding huge respect.
