A big beer with a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate. This beer is an excellent candidate for use with Randall The Enamel Animal! 90 ibu

12oz btl. 3/27/15 bottle date (69 days old). Appearance: clear golden with a moderate off white foam cap. Aroma: Underlying resin and maltiness, with a pop of grapefruit and peaches. Taste: Rich maltiness with fruity, fig like flavors, with a toasted edge, giving way to a balanced bittereness that gradually increases in strength. Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation Finish: Dry, resinous feeling left on the tongue, with strong but not sharp Overall: A great, classic IIPA. Strong enough malt backbone to balance the high IBU, while remaining extremely drinkable, especially for the style.

Bottle from Hannaford Supermarket Exeter NH. Aroma is strong piney/spruce hops along with toasted malts. Appearance is beautiful crystal clear light golden orange with trace sparkling, 1/2 finger width head that dissipates quickly to ring with fair lacing. Taste is robust complex mix of malty sweetness with sweet liquor fruitiness and finishing mild bitterness. Palate is light bodied but meaty texture and lively carbonation at the sides of the tongue. Overall, this is a beer with a lot of things going for it--complex aroma and taste with a beautiful look and an interesting palate.

Pours pretty amber-orange, initially hazy with effervescence but quickly clears, and modest off-white head that reduces to skim. Big pine aroma with whiff of citrus and brown sugar. Even bigger, rougher palate with candied mango and grapefruit, biscuit, fortified wine, vanilla and cleaning solvents, like a PineSol fruitcake. The disparate tastes seem like Thomas Pynchonís spoofs of English candy in "Gravityís Rainbow:" salted plum, gin marshmallow, camphor nougat, sweet-and-sour eggplant. 90 Minute goes past the usual over-hopped American IPA, with similarly large amounts of malt taking it into barleywine country, albeit a very evergreen type of barley. On the plus side, that puts it into better balance than a lot of rival products. And the 9 percent ABV, while substantial, is quite reasonable for a barleywine. Still, you probably donít want to be operating your backhoe while drinking this. In short, a prime example of the more is not enough school of American brewing, throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. Completely unsophisticated, but true to the wackiness that is Dogfish Head.

Desverger (3867) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 28, 2015
Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen - orange amber pour with good white head. Aroma and taste is big sweet malty, tropical, citric and herbal hoppy, piney hop resin, sweet caramel, toffee, cake like, also some dried fruit, and slight spice gives it almost a barleywine impression, beautiful.

Amber in color. Pours a one finger head that goes away over time. I smell a lot of malts. Not much else. Medium body. Very well balanced. Itís not as hoppy as I thought it would be. Goes down smooth. Oily texture. Overall REALLY good beer. I would like a bit more hop presence on the taste, but itís balanced VERY well so Iím just being picky.

Bottled 03/18/15. Pours crystal clear golden honey orange, effervescence with off-white creamy looking head. Aroma is citrus hops, malt, slight grape, grapefruit, mango, papaya, tropical notes with lots of biscuit malt and candied sugar to balance. Flavor is citrus, honey, sweet malts, mango, papaya, grapefruit, really sweet citrus. Just such sweet fruits. Like candied fruits. Itís got a great IPA bitterness but itís so sweet at the same time. Effervescent on the body. Itís been a while since I had this. It was the first IPA I really thought was fantastic. And coming back to it, itís all still there. Still amazing.

Bottle@NYC. Copper color with light grey head. Aroma has malt, citrus, caramel. Taste is malty with bitter and quite dry finish. Flavors of grape, pine, grass. Nice balance between malt and hoppiness.

Very pretty deep orange pour with a thin-ish white head. Tangy nose...citrus and brandy. The entire experience is indeed like drinking a brandied fruiitcake (which I like). Raisins, citron and bready malt. I know the hops are in there, but not a hoppy beer in a traditional sense. I dont taste a west coast ipa, just my opinion.

Pours golden with a long white, foamy head. Nose is pure hop deliciousness with a touch of apple. Flavor is classic west coast IPA and quite well balanced. Nothing ground breaking but a fine west coast style IPA.
