Botnik (100), Carrollton, Texas, USA Dec 29, 2008 12oz bottle. Medium amber, off white head. Smooth malt flavor with a nice hops bite. Excellent balance. TearsforBeers (170), Ohio, USA Dec 29, 2008 On tap at the Cock and Bull (formerly Glendale Pub)
It’s a lightly hazy orange amber and the way the bartender poured it gave it about 3mm of off white.
The aroma is of sweet malts and loads of bitter citrusy hops, smells like it’s a sibling of the 120 minute with a similar but lighter mead-like quality.
The flavor is sweet up front, followed by citrusy, grassy, bitter hops and a bit of alcohol.
This is wonderfully thick and creamy, mouth coating, and warming.
Overall this is a great IPA that I will continue to drink. tturner (103), , Washington, USA Dec 29, 2008 Updated: Feb 17, 2009My favorite IPA. incredible aroma of apricots, citrus and grains. sweet maltyness upfront. a slow inhale through the nose as the brew flows across the tongue will showcase the perfection between the aroma and flavor. Big full fruit and hay/grass flavors. flawless balance. Shear perfection. Pairs really well with Stone’s RIS.
DalzAle (474), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Dec 29, 2008 12 ounce bottle. Pour was a very clear apricot color, and light on carbonation. Aroma was nice, very sweet with tones of citrus. Flavor was very bitter with hops, but not overpowering. Went down almost too easy, orange and grapefruit lingered with a warming alcohol aftertaste. Solid, drinkable imperial IPA. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Dec 27, 2008 Nice deep copper color with lasting white head. Lacing is amazing and resinous. Great aroma of spicy hops and sweet malt. Piny and grassy notes of the hops. Flavor is malty sweet and resinous hop. Definitely pick up some candied fruit and nice sweet balance. Really balances well together. Smooth but chewy mouth feel. Excellent beer. martin21 (156), Quebec city, Quebec, Canada Dec 27, 2008 Deguster au Mondial de la Biere. Intense. Tres houblonner, tres savoureuse.
Tasted at the Mondial de la biere. Intense. Very hoppy, very good. j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Dec 22, 2008 Bottle. One of my favorite beers, but I saved drinking one for a review until my 90th review. The 120 minute gets to be rating 120. Pours a clear golden amber with a very large cream colored head which slowly deflates leaving a little bit of lacing on the sides of the glass. Clean pine aromas with a hint of lightly sweet citrus greet the nose. Mouthfeel is velvety smooth and quite thick, enveloping the tongue. A bit of sweet, subtly raisin like malt leads into a very slowly developing gentle grapefruit bitterness. The 9% abv here is astonishing since I can’t detect a hint of it, it is that well hidden. ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 17, 2008 12oz bottle and tap. Clear copper in color with a two finger fluffy head that recedes with nice lacing. Muted hop aroma with notes fruit. Some sweetness and a bit of grain are also there. Smooth and malty up front. The hops show up in the middle with a hint of orange zest. There is a decent bitter bite to the finish. Very well balanced throughout!
