jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Oct 21, 2008 Extremely rich beer. Pours an amber/copper color with a very thick fluffy head that sticks aroiund a while. Smells like a hops bomb. I’m totally fine with that. Surprisingly sweet taste that balances well with the hops and the bitterness the hops bring. Slight nutty and earthy taste goes almost undetected because of the abundance of hops. An exceptional find. Ubermunch (23), Maryland, USA Oct 21, 2008 Wow... I love this beer. It’s best to remind yourself that it’s still a high ABV brew... but it sure doesn’t taste like it. Would love to be able to drink more of these in a session! Taste is full, although the aroma is not a strong as maybe you’d want. I am always amazed at how this has almost no negative aftertaste... just a sort of sweet/hoppy leave behind. In any case... this is one of my top ten beers and I just love having one after work... when I can afford to keep it in the fridge :-) If you can get it... TRY IT! jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Oct 21, 2008 12oz bottle, a bit old though, as this is my go to beer, i’ve probably had this beer 40 times, the quality control has been called into issue, the only thing im noticing is the hops are not particularly bright here... still tasty and bitter, but not in your face sunshine citrus.... Still easy to drink and delightful, wish i knew how old this was. Miamifan1354 (19), , Delaware, USA Oct 20, 2008 Definitely my favorite beer. For tasting, poured from bottle into Sniffer. Pours a healthy amber color with a small white head. Smells of honey and hops. Tastes of barley malt and ... Hops hops hops!!! My personal beer of choice. On top at Timothy’s in Newark as well. Great beer! montev87 (7), , Florida, USA does not count Oct 19, 2008 Delicious IPA. Head and color something darker than pale. Strong barley-malt flavor with hints of toffee and a hoppy finish. The most surprising thing about this beer is the heaviness of the lace. Great value. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 I feel sorry for the prior reviewer, I live about 6 hours north of SF and never have any trouble finding this delightful brew. Maybe he’s not looking in the right places... I recently introduced a beer neophyte friend to this beer and he immediately fell in love as well, a testament to how surprisingly easy drinking it is for a 9% brew. Heavily hopped and tasty as all hell. TraumaTheDiva (5), San Francisco, California, USA does not count Oct 16, 2008 Excellent, smooth Double IPA. Just enough complexity to satisfy extreme hopheads, with enough simplicity to serve to newbies.
I only wish this particular beer was available more often. We were lucky to get this one on the West Coast for a short window of time.
movezig (137), Pensacola, Florida, USA Oct 16, 2008 Very virbrant IPA. Nose of fruits, grassy hops. Flavors of sweet malts with lots of citrus, some apple. Good DIPA
