posikyle (165), Alabama, USA Jul 16, 2008 Probably one of the best beers in the world. Pours a nice bronze color with a thick head a a big piney aroma. Flavor is malts with a floral/pine hoppy middle a nice crisp finish. Definitely one to pick up. ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Jul 16, 2008 Updated: Dec 15, 2008This beer made a big first impression on me. The aroma is of sweet citrus and hops, with some coffee added in. Color is clear amber. Starts with a finger of white foam and leaves no lacing on the glass. The flavor is big. At first there’s sweet maltiness followed by a very nice, balanced hop finish. This one seems to start sweet then finish dry. There is also the flavor of coffee and some citrus, making this a very distinct, versatile beer. Very good. MuttyD (93), Cambridge, USA Jul 15, 2008 Orange/amber in color with thin white head. Floral/hoppy aroma that persists throughout. Huge amounts of malt sweetness as it moves across the tongue. Finish is long and bitter. This is a beer for hop heads. Hands down the best Double IPA I have ever tried. TheGent (143), , Massachusetts, USA Jul 15, 2008 One of the best I.P.A’s ever. Most high ABV IPA is one note with all hops that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth that you will regret for hours onward. Not the case here. Elements of orange and brandy round the flavor so well and event he alcohol taste seems measured for the taste. Not to mention this beer looks beautiful in the glass, it shined in the daylight with a firey orange. Just had to have another after my first even if that is ill advised with such a strong beer. enginaaron (73), San Diego, California, USA Jul 14, 2008 A lovely golden color with a slightly white head. Aroma is of fruity hops and a sweet malt. Taste is much sweeter than I expected. Different sweetnesses come out with time. Bitter, but not as much as I had expected. I definitely notice some darker, richer fruit like a peach or something. (Not exactly raisins.) Similar sweetness to Midas Touch but waaaaaay less. Overall I think it’s good; but not as bitter as I expected.
phiktion (11), , Pennsylvania, USA Jul 13, 2008 Wow just wow, at first I didn’t care for this beer that much, on my 2nd I fell in love with this beer, my 3rd I think I’m hooked on this beer, wow just amazing.. must try, highly recommend. Oscbert (531), Sacramento, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 Updated: Jul 19, 2008~Pours a light golden amber color with fluffy white head. Beautiful beer.
~Interesting hop scent. I’m more used to westcoast hops. this scent reminds me of BBQ, which is a good thing. Earthy hop scent with some sweet maltiness.
~Taste is nice. Again very different than what I’m used to. It’s the same thing that reminds me off BBQ. I can’t figure out exactly what it is, but it’s in the flavor too. Flavor is sweet. Malt and hops balance out very well.
~Medium feel a bit sticky, bitter aftertaste, but not overpowering.
~I’m not sure what to make of this beer. I like it, but it’s so different than other DIPA and IPA’s I’ve had. Honestly I don’t think i would buy this beer again. Mainly because of the price and there are other beers I enjoy better. I’m glad I got to experience it though and look forward to the remaining three bottles. sgimpel (2), vienna, Virginia, USA does not count Jul 12, 2008 best I have ever tasted. everything just perfect. The only negative is I can’t drink more than a couple. At these times I open up some 60 IPA
