3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 25, 2007 Original rating: 8/11/05 - 7/3/9/4/18=4.1Clear yellow-orange pour, with an extremely creamy off-white head that laces fantastically. Medium-strong standard hops aroma, acerbic and cloying. Impressive! Flavor is so smooth and silky, with fantastic symmetry in the flavor profile and a complex blossom of hop and malt notes. Absolutely delicious, I wish I could drink this for days on end. Complex blend of cream, wheat, malt, brown sugar, grapefruit, floral, and light almonds. Palate is very sweet and sticky, making you want for more. Chewy, with a very strong texture. Fantastic. More drinkable than most IIPAs Iíve had.
Rerate - 12 Oz Bottle - 6/3/6/2/13=3.0 What the hell was I thinking? This is terrible. Aroma is a stagnant cesspool of catty hop flesh and decaying ferns. There are some bright spots with a little candied resin. Pour is acceptable with a burnished gold afroth with white. Flavor is immediately sapifying. Theres too much sugar from the get go. Cats climb into bed with caramelized raisins. Lots of stinky residuals, greased with high gravity yeast by-products. Filtering removes probably any intrigue. Theres a creamy softness, likely derived only from excessive malt content. It doesnít approach the warm breadiness from hop construction in good examples. Palate is downright sticky. Theres a creeping ugly plant bitterness in the backend. Combine that quality with excess sugars and I left a third of a glass at the bar. Iím glad to see my tastes have improved. New score is composite.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Very good IPA. Golden color and pours with little head. Taste is complex. Starts with a unique fruit flavor and finishes with a slight bitterness. This IPA also comes with a nice kick.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Muted. Sweet malty. Dead. Now I do not know the date of the bottle but it was not a repeatable adventure. Disappointing. I like fresh lively bright iIPAs and this is not one of them. Sad:(...

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice copper color with just a hint of cloudy haze; very small light tan head.
The hops are surprisingly subdued for an imperial IPA. Some malt and sweetness. Hops have a little pine to them but also some fruitiness that provides some nice interest.
The taste is mostly consistent with the above aromas except that there is a pretty prominent honey-like sweetness.
Full bodied with just a little bit of an oily mouthfeel. Really nice long complex finish with the hop bitterness, honey and fruit.
Overall this is an exceptional beer. Itís pretty sweet but it works due to the hop balance and overall complexity.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
330ml bottle served in a snifter glass.
Review #100, so, letís celebrate it with some style... ;)
A: Pours a bit hazy dark orange color forming a medium, creamy and light yellow head. Great retention and A LOT of lingering and spotty lacings left in the glass
S: Delicious bouquet of flowery hops in the nose. Mainly citrus and piny hops gives it strong notes of tropical fruits like mango and oranges. Sweet malts, caramel, caramel malts. A little booze but the alcohol is very well hidden
T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of caramel malts, followed by an intense (and delicious) persistent hops bitterness. Hops are quite citrus, piny and grassy. Notes of grapefruit, pineapple and watermelon. Perfect
M: Heavy and molasses body. Medium carbonation. Caramel malts and pine hops in the aftertaste
O: Excellent drinkability. Perfection

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Just MASSIVE. Definitely some maltiness to back it up, but itís so hoppy the bitters dry your mouth right after swallowing. Forms a thick, luscious head. Very tasty, though (I never thought Iíd say this) it may be too hoppy.

A nice balance of hops and malt. More balanced than overpowering with hops. Extremely drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Massive, massive hops in this one. Just MASSIVE. Definitely some maltiness to back it up, but itís so hoppy the bitters dry your mouth right after swallowing. Forms a thick, luscious head. Very tasty, though (I never thought Iíd say this) it may be too hoppy. Still, a hopheadís dream brew in many ways.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sweet biscuit, candy cane, starfruit on nose. Pours a hazy light amber with little head but lots of lacing. Lots of malt backbone, caramel, toffee. Slight bitterness on long finish. Medium mouthfeel with very slight syrupy consistency.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Hazy dark amber pour with dense offwhite head. Powerful aroma with sweet malt and fresh fruits. Taste is balanced with no overwhelming bitterness. The high ABV is clear. Good warmth and not definitly not a bad choice on a cold Autumn day.
