Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute I.I.PA., "perhaps the best I.P.A. in America." An Imperial I.P.A. brewed to be savored from a snifter. A big beer with a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate. This beer is an excellent candidate for use with Randall The Enamel Animal! 90 ibu

Bottle. Poured a golden amber with medium white head. Complex aroma of hops and malt with sweet tone. Full body and flavor with long bitter finish. Very good double IPA.

Quite light amber with a big solid head. Surprisingly malty aroma, with caramel, grain and some dried fruit - the hop notes are grassy and citrus. Dry and bitter but with a giant malty mouthfeel. The bitterness has a tobacco-like astringent touch which isn’t bad at all. Some alcohol. After being underwhelmed by the bitterness I checked the date to see if the journey across the Atlantic could have killed it. But it was bottled in April, and I was disappointed in May and in June. I’m just not a fan of really malty and sweet IIPAs. But store it three years and I’ll probably love it as a barleywine.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2014 12oz bottle-pours a 2 finger high rich tan head. Bright, clear copper-gold color. Aroma is mango & hops. Taste-oily mouthfeel like many 2IPA’s. Balanced hops & malt. Big beers just aren’t my taste, but this was OK. Bottled on 11/25/05 Bottle 140312-rerate 3.7

Bottle, from Řlkonsortiet, Aalborg. Pours a pretty clear redish copper with a small, slightly fizzy yellowish creamy head. Aroma is surprisingly mellow. A slightly tart caramelness dominates along with some citric tones. Very nice and full mouthfeel. Flavour is equally mellow - this isn’t a ’hop-bomb’, more balanced than most IIPA’s. Not to say it isn’t bitter, there are citric and ghrassy hops aplenty. A good finish on a sweeter caramel note as well as a lingering viniousness. A terribly well-balanced beer!

Bottle on my balcony of the Shore Hotel, overlooking the Pacific, that was probably the highlight of this number acquired from Surf Liqour Santa Monica, 16/04/14. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white head that retains well. Nose is caramel malt, straw, bitter grapefruit, bitter orange. Taste is caramel malt forward, orange pith, bitter citric tinges, straw, light grapefruit, pinch of spice. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with hop bitterness. OK DIPA but can’t see how this acquires such high scores. I’ve had this many times in the past prior to joining RB, including on tap at Rehoboth and remember it being far better than this, perhaps an old bottle?

bottle, bought at řlbutikken, cph. denmark. ar:hoppy, fruity, raisins. nice amber, small light brown head. flavor is sweet and hoppy, slightly fruity, aftertaste is very very good, You need to drink a good deal of the bottle before all impressions settle. also watch out for temp. A very good ipa, but not more than ’’somewhere’’ in the best 10 i’ve had. i’d like a more solid mouthfeel, a less barleywineish aroma, a stronger aroma, and better looks.

Bottled, 355ml from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Hazed amber with short lived head. Not as overblown with hops as I was lead to expect, which was a good thing, slighlty sweet and fruity initially, grapefruit and bitter lemon over quite a plummy note, loads of alcohol showing through, nasal, breathy. Crisps up later on for a drying note. Obviously very good but not quite there with the greatest for me.

Bottle. Orange color. Loads of grapefruit and red berries in the floral aroma. Sweetish, very malty flavor with flowery hops, lemon and red berries. Surprisingly malty beer, even a bit salty. Red berries in the hopbitter aftertaste. Extremely well balanced, very drinkable. This is indeed a world class beer!
