4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle; in my possession over 3 years. Rich aroma of ripe light stone fruit. Hazy ripe apricot color with a creamy beige head that flattened, laced, and did interesting things. Medium bodied, with crisp carbonation. The flavor starts with pale raisin, citrus, and something floral. The malt approaches caramel, but it is quite balanced by the hop - bitter and floral. It really pleases the mouth, and the finish is primarily dry, a little fruit lingers, and surprisingly unbitter. Well, it’s bitter, but it is so nicely set off with fruit aspects, like apricot all of a sudden. This is one of those ales that just demands full attention for savoring. This one makes bitter non-bitter, but bitter. Try it.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2011 12 oz. bottle, pours an attractive amber into chalice. Beautifully balanced aroma of intense hops, balanced by caramel malts and a potent grapefruit scent. Flavour is complex- high hops, but the bitterness is masked by everything else going on- grapefruit flavours are prominent as well as a considerable sweetness. Simply one of the best IPAs there is.

Bottle (EBF2008) (7:3:5:2:9=2.6)
Peachy aroma. Sticky zingy palate. Numbing. 1-dimensional hoppiness, and neither interesting nor exciting to me. Not a well balanced beer at all.
Rerate: 355ml bottle (Cambridge Winter Ale Festival 2011) (7:3:7:4:14=3.5)
Totally different beast from the mess we had before. Very sweet, but a pleasant balance of biscuity malts and very fruity hops. Very drinkable for its strength. definitely doesn’t shout about its 9%, even if a bit gimicky. One of the better US hop-bombs, but a sloppy sugary mess compared to masterpieces like Alpo’s and Jaipur.
Rerate: 355ml bottle - thanks martjoobolut! (6:4:5:3:12=3.0)

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy orange, with minimal head. Smooth hoppy hoppy aroma -- rich potential. Much stronger flavor -- big bang, so one-dimensional it’s not funny. Almost pulls it off but suffers for that imbalance. Still a good beer but misses greatness.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled, 355ml from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Hazed amber with short lived head. Not as overblown with hops as I was lead to expect, which was a good thing, slighlty sweet and fruity initially, grapefruit and bitter lemon over quite a plummy note, loads of alcohol showing through, nasal, breathy. Crisps up later on for a drying note. Obviously very good but not quite there with the greatest for me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
An hazy golden ale with a thin lacing white head. A doughy malt with nice floral hops, not as strong as expected. In mouth, a refreshing mentolated hops with dry malt, earthy notes, piney, but not as resinous as I expected. Medium bodied, a bit underwhelmed. A sharp alcohol attack is noted in final. Bottle is one year old, from BOTW.
