Hip hipity hop don’t stop the hops....WOW. Just when I thought it couldnt get any hopier Dogfish Head dropped the hops on me. At 9% alc. by vol. its not for the meek. Well balanced. Full flavored. This is where its at. This is my first Double Imperial India and from the looks of it I might have to change my favorite Beer. Now I’m not going out on a limb here and saying I like this better than Stone IPA, but its a close second. Once I’m able to get some more of the top rated double IMP IPA’s I think I will be able to make a more educated guess. Until then happy hopping my friends....UPDATE this blows Stone IPA out of the water, BUT they are in two different classes so I don’t know ..... please someone school me on the differences of the two types of IPA’s

Coppery pour, with a light head. For the billing of a double/imperial IPA it was lacking in the brute force category, but nevertheless it was balanced very well. I can’t imagine the weight of hops they used, because you’d think for a 90 min hopping, it’d be a lot stronger.

Hop taste in the front with a clear hop finish. Did I mention the hop taste in the middle? Thick mouthfeel rife with hop oil yet smooth. Bright citrus notes and shows a glowing copper color. Long alcohol notes on the finish may turn off some timid souls but if you’re searching for a very strong IPA, this is the one

If this is the best IPA in America, than I agree. Rich and full bodied, with extremely well balanced hops. Flavorful and drinkable for a 9% brew. I think it feels more put together than a lot of west coast IPAs that straight up punch you in the face

This IPA has an amazing blend of hoppiness and sweetness. It is currently my favorite IPA out there.

Aroma is pine & sweet bourbon with a faint grapefruit note Mouthfeel is full and frothy with a balanced carbonation. Malt is fruitcake without spice b/c there is a lot there. The hop bitter balances the complexity of the malt without too much hop bite. Its formiddable flora hop bitter but the balance in the beer is amazing. Great!!
