Nose is floral, spicy, citrus and maybe a tad of yeast showing through. Malt sweet start, full top, the finish dry, slightly acidic, moderate carbonation and a nice hop bite. A bazillion tiny bottles, creeping up the glass with the second pour, interesting beer, and I feel quite complex, but quite quaffable. Thanks JCA Sammys (428), Portland, Maine, USA

The only imperial IPA I’ve had before is Victory Hop Devil, and honestly, I was a bit drunk at the time so I never rated it (Mondiale de la biere 2004). That being said, I don’t remember that one being as malty or complex as this. This tastes much like some of the better barley wines I’ve had. Huge nose of malt and hops, sweet and chewy mouthfeel, with a LONG finish of 3 hops I’ve never knowingly had before. Incredible beer. HighlanderOne (547), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA

It was prominent in the flavor and the aftertaste. What's even weirder is that I liked it.
9/18 - Has the fresh, clean aroma of a brewery. The hop flavor is hearty and delicious. I could actually feel the hop flavor dancing on my tongue well after swallowing - kinda like Indian food. Alcohol only noticable in aftertaste and is not dominant. A real treat for hop lovers. Admiral (524), Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 20, 2004 Deep amber, dense offwhite head. Aroma of citrusy hops, dried fruit, alcohol. Very woody flavor; toasty, fruity, bitter. None of the ganja notes that I get from the 60 Minute. Medium to full body. Very tasty indeed, but then I’ve been known to chew hop pellets. Sometime soon I need to get my hands on a bottle of the 120 Minute... fiulijn (7520), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Explosive; I like it because the maltiness can somehow support the huge hopping. And the fruity character in the nose and palate. Excellent I2PA. Good level of condition from a seemingly tiny amount of yeast in the bottle. Enticing aromas of malt, chocolate and big blast of hops. Complex blend of grapefruit, malt and orange balanced perfectly with immense hop flavour that becomes bitter in the finish without ever becoming obtrusive. Supremely well balanced and drinkable despite the strength, which is only apparent when you decide to stand up and you head starts spinning a little. The embodiment of Umami.

Fresh, leafy, piny, grapefruit, and caramel aroma. Bready, caramel, and lightly fruity malts leading to a fantastic fresh pine, grapefruit, and fruity bitter finish. Full bodied and smooth mouthfeel. The relative "balance" of this compared to Dreadnaught just leaves this head and shoulders above that for me. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA

Yes the cork is a bastard, but then all that fighting makes you thirsty! Now, about the beer, this has one of the thickest heads that I have ever had, the liquid is orange brown in color, smell of strong hops, taste of hops and strong malt. There isnt a over the top hop burn, which in my mind in a good thing. My only complaint is that it tastes slightly metallic. This is probably the best IPA I have had. Re-Rate 8/17: I must have had a dirty glass, no more metallic taste with the next 2 bottles, this is the best American made beer I have ever had. Update 12/21: No longer my favorite American beer but still my favorite IPA
