solid bitterness - but actually much mellower than I expected - you won't pucker. perfectly balanced body - malt, hops and alchohol all present and welcome. more copper in color than pale. nice floral nose - but again the hops are more mellow than I would've thunk considering the label. ipa meets barley wine - excellent.

Drinking my last of 4 bottles poured into a pint glass to let this masterpiece breathe! As my palate continues to develop from 60-93 percentile ales and stouts I honestly thought initially that this IPA was a case of "IPA’s gone overboard". Now that I am on my fourth one (two weeks later from #1 of the brown recycled paper-looking 4-pack) this beer has grown on me! As I am nephew of uncles who introduced me to cabs, scotches, leg of lamb and cigars my senses have taken to the strong taste and this IPA puffs its chest out and goes nose to nose with your tongue! Basically to me it tastes and feels like a 50/50 mix of two of my favorite beers; Bell’s Double Cream Stout and Sierra Nevada. Perhaps I will soon mix those two 50/50 myself and do a live comparison! Who’s in?!

Bottle. Pours clear orange with a lasting small creamy white head. Aroma is quite malty with biscuit, candy, dried fruit, mild pine, grass and spice. Taste is near heavy sweet, light+ bitter. Body is medium, texture is quite oily, carbonation is soft+. Finishes sweet with orange fruit and biscuit with a greasy mouthfeel.

Aroma is citrus, resin and peach. Appearance is golden, clear and slim beautiful head. Taste is heavy, slightly alcoholic, plum and almost spicy. Mouthfeel is thick and a bitterness lingers. Overall a delicious, complex and impressive IIPA.

Super godt bryg!

355 mL bottle. Pours light amber with a thick white cap of head. Candied orange, resinous pine and cedar, citrus pith, deep caramel malt and bready notes. Fairly sweet, but well balanced with a clean bitterness, not over the top, a hint of alcohol on the finish. Moderate to heavy body with average carbonation. Big and sticky on the palate, lingers long. At 3 months old, I wish it was fresher.

Sampled at Great Canadian Beer Festival. Big malt and bigger hop with nice complexity. Heavy caramel, with tangelo fruity/spiciness. Syrupy thick with sweet notes but a long, bitter finish. *May have rated it higher if it wasn’t served from an overchilled can.

Bottled on 8.11.14. Clear amber color. Minimal carbonation and head, but excellent lacing. Aroma is overripe fruit, alcohol, banana. Taste was licorice, grapefruit, raw hops, sweet aftertaste. I believe this beer was too young. I will keep one for a few months and hope for improvement with maturation. Overall, not a good DIPA but I will re-rate if it ages well.

09/12/2014 - From bottle in tulip glass. Bottled 12??/12. Hazy burnt orange, bubbly off-white head. Strong grapefruit and citrus hop aroma, undertones of sweet malt and slight grassy notes. Flavor opens with hop resin up front, fades to a full, sweet, caramel and malt body then opens into a huge burst of piney and citrusy hops. Finishes with a mild hop linger and a lasting citrus tingle. BIG beer but very well balanced. Tons of hop flavor without being overpoweringly bitter. No sickly sweetness of many other imperial IPAs (*cough* duganA *cough*). This is one to grab if you want actual hop flavor in a big beer.

Lots of flavor packed densely. Dried fruit and citrus hoppiness that never goes overboard. Slight alcoholic bite in the long-bitter finish reminds of the high abv and docks points.
