4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I saw the blurb and I thought "Mere puffery sprinkled liberally with bollocks." and then I sampled:
Appears amber with a marshmallowy creamy white head that left good lace. I certainly did not expect the cake-like aromas that I got when I stuck my (sizeable) nose over the glass and snorted. Like sniffy sherry cask finished whisky along with mandarin, tangelo, cut spruce logs and green cones. Some fresh alcohols, but the predominance is toward glace citrus peel and all sorts of lovely rich dessert. The flavour was another leap altogether. Creamy oranges and green grasses matched with persistent sherbet carbonation and a silky body. It is unctuous and viscous and gives a good whack of bitterness. The finish is enduring and brings out fruit salad laced liberally with golden rum, lychee and creamy orange.
I loved everything about this beer except the emptiness of the bottle. Do I agree with the labelling? Not entirely as I think the Sauvignon Blanc comparison is off (I live near Marlborough and Sav is too light, too fresh). More like Viognier with its tropical fruit and nectarine, which is also present in the finish.
Just a remarkable, remarkable beer.

Very effervescent and well balanced. Sweeter and not as hoppy as expected, which was too bad. It was a gift and I was happy to be able to try it, as I have heard lots of good things about it.

A very well balanced IPA. Slightly sweet malty flavor mixes with a nice light hoppy citrus flavor. Another wonderful brew by the DFH guys!

Zacht van smaak, lichte tinteling en bitter. Merk niet dat het een biertje van 9% is..

Just had the Swedish fish infusion version. Really smooths out the hops. Adds a sweet flavor and that touch of strawberry licorice. Tap

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampler at Mondial de la Biere in Montreal. Hazy golden body, medium white head. Faint aroma of peaches, oranges and caramel. Taste of grapefruit zest, orange candies, peach. Too sweet for my taste.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
i love the balance of this beer. The flavor is strong and the finish is smooth. All hop-heads need not apply as this is a great balanced beer with no hint of the 9% alcohol it delivers. Reminds me of Nugget Nector and a tiny bit of Hopslam.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355 ml. bottle @ home. Obtained in a trade with LouS. Thanks! Bottled on 04/08/15. Touch darker caramel amber, a handful of small stream of rising bubbles, off-white, small solid head. Nose is oddly malt, plenty of biscuit malts, some caramel, mellow candied fruit, cake, light maple, totally different from what I expected. Taste is herbal bitter, bitter tea, faint cough syrup bitter mixed with biscuit, faint maple & rum cake, raisin, light pine, bitter herbal & light plant, tea leaves taste, light rum-like booziness, quite heavily malty, herbal, faint ginseng,… Malty, lightly chewy & heavily biscuit body. Totally different from expected. Quite British in a way. Quite herbal, biscuit & rum cake like. A bit odd & rather unusual for the style. I can see this being quite the divisive brew despite the excellent score on RB. Interesting beer.
