4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I saw the blurb and I thought "Mere puffery sprinkled liberally with bollocks." and then I sampled:
Appears amber with a marshmallowy creamy white head that left good lace. I certainly did not expect the cake-like aromas that I got when I stuck my (sizeable) nose over the glass and snorted. Like sniffy sherry cask finished whisky along with mandarin, tangelo, cut spruce logs and green cones. Some fresh alcohols, but the predominance is toward glace citrus peel and all sorts of lovely rich dessert. The flavour was another leap altogether. Creamy oranges and green grasses matched with persistent sherbet carbonation and a silky body. It is unctuous and viscous and gives a good whack of bitterness. The finish is enduring and brings out fruit salad laced liberally with golden rum, lychee and creamy orange.
I loved everything about this beer except the emptiness of the bottle. Do I agree with the labelling? Not entirely as I think the Sauvignon Blanc comparison is off (I live near Marlborough and Sav is too light, too fresh). More like Viognier with its tropical fruit and nectarine, which is also present in the finish.
Just a remarkable, remarkable beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a cloudy dark orange with some rocky white head. Nose is orange marmalade, pineapple juice, caramel, raisin. Flavor is loads of citrus, marmalade, really fresh pineapple juice, with a slight herbaceousness and generous grapefruit on the finish. High side of medium body, standard carbonation, slight sugar coating on your lips as you drink.

On draught, in bottles, had many times. Excellent IPA, and after it sits in a basement for two years, turns into an amazing barley wine.

I’ve heard so much about it. I got the recipe and made some before I ever tried it. Mine was better. Yes, it’s good but not the best IPA out there. Lot of hype. Try Brew Cocky or Maharajah.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A- Chex mix, caramel, biscuits, bready, malty, fruitcake, spices, citrus.
A- Orange color, clear liquid, white head.
T- Caramel, citrus, raisins, spices, bitter, malty, salt, bread.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish.
O- A goodIPA. I was expecting an aggressive hop profile but it was surprisingly smooth and ungodly complex. There were so many aromas and flavors going on, I could never list them all. Definitely need to try the 60 min and 120 min now.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Standard straightforward imperial IPA. Had on draft in a tulip glass and hoped for more. Maybe another minute or two would have helped instead of rounding to the nearest ten :-) Still a very solid beer - particularly if on its own.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
An IPA with a great malt backbone. Pours a wonderful golden amber with a tint of orange and red. Dangerously drinkable yet full bodied.

12oz bottle 6/30/14 (Osco Singles)-44° in Snifter-Pours am amberish orange with a small off white head. Aroma of hops and malt. Taste of citrus, malt, and more sweetness. This full bodied brew is well balanced and is very easy to drink.
