4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jimthechap (1195) - Christchurch, - OCT 19, 2012I saw the blurb and I thought "Mere puffery sprinkled liberally with bollocks." and then I sampled:
Appears amber with a marshmallowy creamy white head that left good lace. I certainly did not expect the cake-like aromas that I got when I stuck my (sizeable) nose over the glass and snorted. Like sniffy sherry cask finished whisky along with mandarin, tangelo, cut spruce logs and green cones. Some fresh alcohols, but the predominance is toward glace citrus peel and all sorts of lovely rich dessert. The flavour was another leap altogether. Creamy oranges and green grasses matched with persistent sherbet carbonation and a silky body. It is unctuous and viscous and gives a good whack of bitterness. The finish is enduring and brings out fruit salad laced liberally with golden rum, lychee and creamy orange.
I loved everything about this beer except the emptiness of the bottle. Do I agree with the labelling? Not entirely as I think the Sauvignon Blanc comparison is off (I live near Marlborough and Sav is too light, too fresh). More like Viognier with its tropical fruit and nectarine, which is also present in the finish.
Just a remarkable, remarkable beer.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 ronaldtheriot (785) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - MAY 23, 2013
Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA has a medium, off-white head, an unclear, brilliant, amber-orange appearance, with thin, white lacing, and an enormous amount of bubbles all about. The aroma is very juicy up front (think of mango), with an underlying toasted barley malt note. Taste is of sweet, juicy hops, hop oil, some bitterness, and toasted barley malt. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit oily, and Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA finishes semi-dry, sweet, mildly alcohilic, and surprisingly easy drinking. Overall, this beer was not as bitter, rich, extreme, and hoppy as the hype led me to believe. That aside, I still think it is a wonderful beer to be able to sample. Overall, I rate this as outstanding. RJT

12oz bottle dated 4/1/13 poured into a snifter. Pours a clear, dark orange with a full two fingers of thick off-white head. Aroma of resins and citrus. Taste is medium bitter and light sweet. Boozy with citrus and caramel. Full nodied with a thick yet slick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, great. I could drink this everyday.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hartung32 (98) - Indiana, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Really good DIPA, but I'm not as impressed with it as I was years ago(before trying a lot more DIPAs). More malty and less hoppy then I remembered. Still a really good beer though.

Amazing beer, and a great IPA. Bought this after some debate to celebrate graduation, and couldn’t be happier with the result. Smooth, strong yet easy to drink with a fantastic taste.

Brilliant, relatively smooth with a little hoppy bite, complex but no overpowering elements...
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 dlihcsnatas (107) - Texas, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Good looking amber brew with a off white thick head. Smells of citrus and a hint of booze. Taste is about the same with some malt characteristics popping in every once in a while. It is a good imperial IPA but not sure if I would say the best for the price tag it has. Due to there are IPA’s out there just as good if not better with better prices on them I think this was my first and last 90 Minute Imperial IPA..

Bottle. Pours a beautiful copper. Off-white head with some staying. Nose is light with malt and alcohol predominating. Taste is the perfect combination of malt, moderate bitterness and light hops. This is a great IPA.
