Commercial Description:
Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute I.I.PA., "perhaps the best I.P.A. in America." An Imperial I.P.A. brewed to be savored from a snifter. A big beer with a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate. This beer is an excellent candidate for use with Randall The Enamel Animal! 90 ibu

Pours a big creamy smooth beige head, sheets of lace, and a cloudy orange color. Nose is floral, spicy, citrus and maybe a tad of yeast showing through. Malt sweet start, full top, the finish dry, slightly acidic, moderate carbonation and a nice hop bite. A bazillion tiny bottles, creeping up the glass with the second pour, interesting beer, and I feel quite complex, but quite quaffable. Thanks JCA

Im a fan of IPAs, so I was really hyped for this one. I like the body, and palate, when warmer the high abv is fairly powerful. Citrus, flowers, bitter as you would think. I enjoy it.

Be careful with this one. I have had two different bottles from the same four pack which were completely different beers. If you get one that’s the way it’s supposed to be, it’s a hoppy IPA that’s simultaneously completely drinkable, more subtle than a Ruination even. If you get a bad one, it’s a Dunkin’ Donuts regular with cream & no sugar. Difficult beer to rate due to the inconsistency. My personal opinion is that it’s Dogfish Head’s best when it’s on. Citrus hops with a strong malt backbone almost every time. I recommend, but recommend with the caveat that you’re purchasing an inconsistent product.

Capital Ale House Downtown 08/24/2008. Nice flora orange/citrus hop nose. Clear orange/amber with small fine white head. Rich malt background supports robust floral citrus American hop flavors. Medium body with full mouthfeel but residual bitterness leads to a dry finish. Fantastic beer.

Bottled(355ml). -Clear amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, flowery hoppy nose. Cytrusy hoppy, light grassy and fruity with mild notes of caramel and honey. Alcohol well hidden. Hoppy bitterness in the finish. Very good IPA.

Bottled 4/1/2008 from bottle neck. Pours a very nice copper color with a nice white head tapering off into some very nice lace work. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, caramel, malt, not quite as big an aroma as I had expected from this big brew? Flavor is caramel, malt, spicy, citrus, hops, the mouth feel is very nice. The 9% alcohol is hidding waiting for this one to warm up a touch. Long bitter hoppy finish. This is a really nice beer but I think this one does not live up to the hype! I always have this feeling going into these things that somehow it wont live up to the hype, very few do.
