As always, a fantastic IPA from DFH. Great aroma, the mouthfeel is perfect, and that hop flavor is amazing. Delicious.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
355 mL bottle. Pours light amber with a thick white cap of head. Candied orange, resinous pine and cedar, citrus pith, deep caramel malt and bready notes. Fairly sweet, but well balanced with a clean bitterness, not over the top, a hint of alcohol on the finish. Moderate to heavy body with average carbonation. Big and sticky on the palate, lingers long. At 3 months old, I wish it was fresher.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled at Great Canadian Beer Festival. Big malt and bigger hop with nice complexity. Heavy caramel, with tangelo fruity/spiciness. Syrupy thick with sweet notes but a long, bitter finish.
*May have rated it higher if it wasn’t served from an overchilled can.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled on 8.11.14. Clear amber color. Minimal carbonation and head, but excellent lacing. Aroma is overripe fruit, alcohol, banana. Taste was licorice, grapefruit, raw hops, sweet aftertaste. I believe this beer was too young. I will keep one for a few months and hope for improvement with maturation. Overall, not a good DIPA but I will re-rate if it ages well.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
09/12/2014 - From bottle in tulip glass. Bottled 12??/12.
Hazy burnt orange, bubbly off-white head. Strong grapefruit and citrus hop aroma, undertones of sweet malt and slight grassy notes. Flavor opens with hop resin up front, fades to a full, sweet, caramel and malt body then opens into a huge burst of piney and citrusy hops. Finishes with a mild hop linger and a lasting citrus tingle.
BIG beer but very well balanced. Tons of hop flavor without being overpoweringly bitter. No sickly sweetness of many other imperial IPAs (*cough* duganA *cough*). This is one to grab if you want actual hop flavor in a big beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Lots of flavor packed densely. Dried fruit and citrus hoppiness that never goes overboard. Slight alcoholic bite in the long-bitter finish reminds of the high abv and docks points.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Great malty taste with the hop kick at the end. The hops in the aroma is citrus and pine like. The malt is sweet but the hops perfectly balance it out.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Medium copper pour with a small dense white head with somewhat low retention, very clear, nice lacing. Citrus (lemon, grapefruit, orange) on the nose, floral, malts, sugar, maybe Candi sugar? Resinous start, moves quickly into the floral notes, which on turn is taken over by refined sugar, and finishes with a lingering pine note. Medium body.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This was hoppy like an IPA but not a hop bomb. Instead it is very well balanced and more controlled. alcohol warmth, somewhat sweet. Very nice. bottle in Berkeley.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2014 Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute I.I.PA., "perhaps the best I.P.A. in America." An Imperial I.P.A. brewed to be savored from a snifter. A big beer with a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate.
