Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute I.I.PA., "perhaps the best I.P.A. in America." An Imperial I.P.A. brewed to be savored from a snifter. A big beer with a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate. This beer is an excellent candidate for use with Randall The Enamel Animal! 90 ibu

A great beer, but over the years I think that it has been surpassed by other imperial IPA’s. It does have a "great malt backbone" as they say - maybe even too great, because it doesn’t really taste like an IPA. I would almost call this an American strong ale in the style of Stone’s double bastard ale. And some of the flavors, like figs and raisins, are reminiscent of a barleywine or a quad. It’s hoppy, but the hops are balanced, and almost overpowered, by the malty flavors. Regardless, it’s a classic and a great brew.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Hazy orange color with a big soapy off-white head. Big citrus, grapefruit aromas with hints of caramel malt, honey and pine needle. Well-balanced. Sweet and bitter on the palate. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Bready and biscuity aromas come out as it warms up along with more tropical fruit from the hops. Fairly easy drinking for the ABV with a great bitter finish.

Everything is awesome here from great hop pine aroma greatness, only down side is cloying sweetness associated with this. It would be fine for a barley wine or Xmas ale but not for this type. Didn’t let me dislike the overall experience.

Amber pour, thin skein of tan foam. Aroma is light, given the hop load. Smells a little malty in fact. Flavor is similar. Underwhelming hop flavor dominated by malt backbone. Interesting, and tasty, but not a fave in the world of big IPAs.

Bottle to glass. Pours a nice amber color with an off white head. Aroma is a pungent fresh citrusy, fleshy fruit hop character with a solid caramel malt background. Flavor is a good blend of malty sweetness and huge fruity hoppy goodness. A very tasty double IPA.

Bottle 0,355 l. Good foam, light orange color, powerful aroma of hops with half hundred of shades: herbs, pine needles, tropical fruits, berries, powerful malt. Well balanced taste with many hops: fruit, pine, wine like porto, excellent malt profile, good bitterness, perfect finish. Excellent example of Imperial IPA.

Bottle. Dark golden pour with a creamy head. Big hop and malt aroma and taste. Well balanced bitterness. Truly a world class Imperial IPA.

Heavy on the hops - tropical fruits, lightly cloudy golden colour, good sized white head, a please to drink hop hop and then some more for good luck, full bodied with a some more hops to finish.

Can’t believe I have never rated this legend... Pours a brilliant golden copper with a nice head that sticks around (heavy lace). Simple clean aroma profile: caramel, resin, dough, with a little woody vanilla. Taste is out of the park awesome. A perfect balance. Palate: medium body, velvet texture, soft carbonation, with an easy bitter finish. Quite an offering.
