UPDATED: OCT 12, 2005 Bottle: I swear to god I have rated this beer at least 3 times already and it’s getting lost. Weird. Well here goes... Copper amber colored, showing chill haze, with a medium white head that slowly recedes to a ring around the glass. In more recent years this ring seems to dies rather than stick to the glass. I’m not quite sure why. The taste is hops and plenty of ’em right from the get go. There’s citrus, grapefruit, pine and if fresh - grass/plant coming from the dry hopping. Multi-dimensional, this beer adds biscuit, grains, a hint of alcohol, and a slight sweet malt to the mix. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, crisp and bitter mouthfeel that cleanes that palate after every sip. Adding to the rating 10/11/05: On draught this is a different animal. Yeah randall is fun, but it takes away from the body and only adds a little to the aroma and flavor. Nope, this is best on draught, no randall. You really can’t ask for a better appearance, beautifully retained & thick head. Fresh on tap, the aroma is so fresh, crisp, and assertive with body and taste to match. I would give this at least a 4.5 for the draught version I had at the Gaithersburg location.

Well balanced IPA Dogfish Head knows what they are doing. Crisp hoppy bold flavor not a strong alcohol taste. One of my favorites!

Called "possibly the best ipa in america", i agree! Purchased on a whim from local store. Was blown away by the amazing collection of flavors and huge hop presence but velvety finish. Very smooth and drinkable. This is a GREAT beer!

Appearance was clear red honey caramel gold with creamy lasting off white 1 finger head, lacing throughtout glass. Aromas where sweet honey caramel malts, then soft citrusy lemon, figs, orange,pine and grapefruits.Easy nose with soft hops and sweet malt. Taste was the star, malts of sweet caramel and honey.Hops of citrus and tropical fruitsof figs, orange, grapefruit, and resin with balnace of both. Palate was silky creamy carbonation with a balanced body. The finish was a long beauty of hops and malts. Wonderful, like better colder than warmer...

Bottle to chalice poured an amber with orange hues, medium frothy white head, and minimal lacing. Aroma includes tangerine, grapefruit, and figs. Taste is a symphony of flavors including honey and raisins upfront followed by citrus and pine hops. Finish is extremely smooth and creamy with a wonderful mouthfeel. Excellently crafted, complex, yet very drinkable Imperial IPA.

Ruby red pour no head simple lacing. Light aroma of citrus, hops, pine, and grass. Butterscotch taste with pine, citrus, hops and spice. Super smooth and creamy on the palate. This one finishes really well.

12 once bottle, aromas of all hops, flavors the same, best off the 4 variants DFH does.

Amazing brew. Hoppy hoppy hoppy. Butterscotch, citrus, toast, caramel, banana, leather, smoke, woody.

Tastes like a darker ipa but is medium in color. Interesting flavor, not as good as initially thought. Slightly citrussy with slight pine.

Smells fruity and hoppy with a little straw as the pour matures. Blondish amber colour. Decently creamy head with great tracing. Taste has a good balance of booze. Palate is pretty thick, long-lasting. From City Market Co-op in Burlington.

On tap at Yardhouse in Brea. Sweet hop aroma and a nice white head. A hoppy citrus flavor that with a smooth aftertaste.
