COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure seems like we have a thing for numbers (60, 90, 120....), but actually it's just that we have a real big thing for hops! For this special brewpub-only release we aged three kegs of our 90 Minute IPA in Pinot Noir barrels stuffed with Amarillo hops for 30 days - hold on to your hats! This beer will be served exclusively at our Rehoboth Beach brewpub.

Classic IPA. Definitely a hop bomb. Not my favorite IPA, but a very good one.

Draft @ the pub. Served, too cold, in a snifter. Small offwhite head, retention is good with plenty of sticky lace to be enjoyed. clear light amber/copper hued brew. Aromas were tough to identify whilst sitting under the seriously cranked up ceiling fans but whiffs of wood, grape and lightly grassy, citrusy hops made themselves known. Body was medium with a delicately coating mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lightly sweet malts with a nicely aggressive woodiness, fruity, light vinous notes and a surprisingly tame hoppiness. Barrel aging was an interesting twist to this brew. Light citrus notes appear as well as a light spiceyness. Finish is fairly dry, woody and fruity. A real treat that was somewhat hampered by the brewpub scene. I tried to get a growler to go but no deal! Hey, i tried!

As described by Sam himself :"extra-special, extra-hopped kegs of our 90 Minute Imperial IPA". What wasnít noted was the aging of the ale in Pinot Noir casks besides the extra-hopping. THe Hopping adds the extra-bitterness that is somewhat left out of the 90 and 120-minute varieties. But what really hits you is the aroma...omigosh, itís awesome, and one of the best boquets on a beer Iíve ever had the pleasure to meet. Iím not sure if it was the cask adding to the color, since I didnít have another 90-minute to visually compare until I got home, but itís nearing Apple Cider in clarity and hue. Definitely a pleast slow sip to drink, and is good from the cold tap to the warming glass. The hoppiness and sweetness was what I had originally expected from the extra-hopped beer when I had an original 90-minute, but this is what I had hoped for. This was the start of the three reserve casks at the Rehoboth Beach, Deleware location. One could hope that this may make it as a reserve bottle one day (World Wide Stout ???). (On Tap @ DFH Alehouse 07/20/2006)
