COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
More than 1,500 loyal fans of the brewery and band suggested an ingredient idea and the Dead-inspired story behind it. Our favorite was granola, from California Dead Head and craft beer lover Thomas Butler. “The components of granola – honey, toasted grains, oats and fruit – offer a lot from a beer perspective,” says Thomas, a chemist by day, homebrewer by night. “The idea is to have a bold pale ale that highlights the oats and honey with a nice ‘dank’ hop selection.” American Beauty is brewed with all-American malts and hops, granola and little bit of soul. It’s malty with a big hop kick, and notes of toasted almond and honey round out the flavor profile and balance out the hop bitterness.

Nice amber hue and golden head for this well crafted brew. Oats, granola notes with a nice hop balance. Finishes on the floral side.

750 ml bottle from Party Town. Pours a clear orange with a finger of off-white head that settles into a lasting film and thick ring. Notes of honey, grape must, caramel, sweet bread, red apple skins, tea, and booze. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a boozy, juicy mouthfeel. It sits heavy on the palate and just lingers. I don’t know. There’s nothing offensive about it, but for all these 750 ml DFH bottles with all these lengthy description, all the crazy parts don’t seem to amount to much.

22oz from wegmans. The nose is absolutely great, hop with some intense floral notes. Cloudy hay with not much head and minimal carbonation. Red orange tones. Pretty good balance but not much hop or malt jumping out. No heat for a 9% abv. A little funk on the aftertaste. Easy drinking high abv with not too much flavor.

Draft. Bland malty aroma. Clear copper with a large off-white head. Sweet fruity grainy malt, white grape, and herbal hops flavor. Medium body, soft carobnation.

A strange brew. Bits of random grain and fruit are evident in this drinkable ale. Nothing particular and not too hoppy. Pours a medium golden with a thick head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured into an English pint glass. Copper colored with a cream colored head. Aroma is caramel malt, some cereal, and some earthy hops. Flavor is similar with some spiciness / pepperiness towards the finish. Medium bodied with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall a little on the sweet side but good.

Bottle. Pours a very clear light amber color with a moderate frothy light tan head on there. Nose is fruity and floral with a noticeable amount of honey coming off it. Taste is moderately bitter, and has a decidedly toasty bite to it. A bit intense, but interesting.

Bottle shared at catch 22 bottle share! Grateful dead beer, coool maan. Pours a clear golden brown with minimal off-white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma and taste are just big malty sweetness, nothing outstanding or memorable. Not bad, but meh.

Cerial comes to mind for this aroma in this clearish light amber color. Special K red berries. Thats the aroma. The taste is not far off either. Sweet and granola up front with an aftertaste of sweet fruit and a slight warmth from the 9%. Its full bodied and tiny carb bubles makes for a nice brew.

Draft pour at elliott bay pizza. Pours a nice amber color with a swirling foam head and a ton of lace. Very high carb with a lot of sweet malt and honey aroma and flavor. A little soapy and bitter finish. Has some spice, but it’s a little overpowered. Medium body, and grainy. Overall enjoyable. Not bad.
