Malt and playdough linger with apricot and pine. robertjm (401), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 11, 2009 Nice foamy, off-white head. Body is dark orange in color. Good carbonation bubbles. Aroma, for the most part, is of hops, which traces of apricot in the back. Flavor is very well balanced between the sourness of fresh apricots and hops. There is a tang in the aftertaste reminiscent of apricot. Perhaps it could be a touch more sweet for me, but I’ll drink it again sometime. DFH calls it "a serious India Pale Ale brewed with real apricots", which I suppose could mean a fruit beer. Nonetheless, I love DFH, so I’ll give it a chance. Pours a orange-gold-copper color mix with almost nothing in the head. Smells of floral, fresh hops, a bit of malt, and some fruit (which I guess is apricot). Tastes of sweet fruit, like a piece of fruit with extra sugar, some fresh hops, and malt. Quite a bit of bitterness in it, with a funky aftertaste. Ok, not great, not horrible. smcolw (332), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2009 Slightly cloudy with an orangey copper color. Beautiful thick head with some slippery lace.
Aroma is predominantly floral hop with a touch of light pale malt. I cannot detect any apricot aromas.
Very brief mellow malt on the initial sip, this quickly gives way to a bitter hop explosion. Where’s the apricot? Long lasting dry hop bitterness in the aftertaste. The body is thinner than most and is highly carbonated.
This is a very good IPA but the promised fruit seems to be missing. Although I am rating this beer highly, it is not what I expected. kevd193213 (486), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2009 Draught. Light copper pour with a thick fizzy white head. Aroma of citrus and sugar. Sweet taste with citrus dominating along with faint nuts and caramel. Really sweet finish. Definitely a one and done due to the over sweet taste. dirt55 (155), Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2009 bottled, pours clear medium amber with heavy carbonation and thick white head, very light malt with strong hop presence in the nose with more citrus as it warms, full malt flavor with mildly hoppy in the middle with strong citrus in the end and lingering on the palate, VERY good, but I wouldn’t have guessed apricot if I didn’t already know DuffManSW (289), Riverside, California, USA
