Flavor hit with apricot right away, then follows with some bitter hops and lemon citrus. A very solid beer, but not my favorite apricot brew by far. GranvilleTim (476), Granville, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Light golden pour with white head. Fruit aroma hits you first followed by the hops. Apricot flavor is more prominient than malt or hops. Sweetness comes through the whole taste. Not really experienced with fruit beers, I like this one. It has a nice flavor, nothing overbearing. I bet this would be good at a BBQ. RHeastings (395), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

This is odd, given the fact that it is advertised as a "storng I.P.A." However, the palate does not disappoint. Malt sweetness, balancing hops, and a wonderful flavor of fresh apricots come across, ending in a dry finish. Overall, not quite what you would expect, but another unique and very delicious beer from the good people at Dogfish Head. 41cubs (134), , New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 18, 2009 An OK experience. The tart aspect creeps into the nose along with light white wine, but the problem comes with the flavor. It is nice at the start, reminiscent of and english ale with a fruity twinge, but the end and the aftertaste are dominated by the tart unripened version of apricot. Good one-timer. Sorry Dogfish Head. 2009 12oz. livelaughlovep (96), Lakewood, Ohio, USA

There was a finishing sour note that truly clarified it was a beer, though. Very different. Apricot was a nice background flavor that didn’t overwhelm. Sweet, balanced with the malt, not very hoppy. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2009 First time with the fruit/IPA. Pours clear orange with a big foamy white head. Moderate lacing. Fresh apricots mixed with slightly piney hops and light caramel. Light, medium-carbonated mouthfeel. Fresh citrus and mild pine hops up front complimented nicely with the apricots which burst through in the middle. The malt is much lighter than expected, and lets the apricot taste come through without making it too sweet or sticky. Earthy, fruity finish that’s not too long. Very refreshing. cking (1019), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Dark copper color with a creamy head and great lacing. Aroma of tart apricot, peaches, cookies and bread. Could not discern any hops justifying the IPA moniker. Mouth feel is a bit funky, gives off an odd feel one minute I like it the next, well not so much. Flavor is lightly tart with plenty of apricot and a mix of sourdough bread. Some pepper and grass notes. Again I taste no inkling of an IPA within this beer. An odd beer, in no fashion an IPA although it is a nice fruit beer. Just not my thing, I wouldn’t buy this again. curly (575), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 14, 2009 Dark rich amber pour with thin beige head. Molasses and apricot aroma. Not as hoppy as I remember it being one time. Maybe this batch is dulled down. Taste is a tart apricot with some sourness and metallic finish. This is hardly a pale ale as far as hop bitterness goes.
