A´hhh Dogfish Head - this brewery get’s a special corner of my heart as this is another damn fine brew by them: Nice amber color, little tiny head. Roasted malt and alcohol nose. Nice apricot, hop and grain taste which lasts for ever. Very refreshing and memorable.

The color of clover honey with a thin fast receding head. Very subdued hop profile imo. Apricots were not evident.

I love this beer! A great summertime beer indeed. It’s terribly refreshing and a perfect balance of heavy and light, sweet and bitter. The aroma is sweet apricot and candy. Flavor is authentic IPA beer + apricots. Not watered down at all, and it doesn’t taste artificial. Good job yet again Dogfish Head!
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Shadrach (176) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAY 1, 2004
Poured a clear light amber, with a very slight aroma. Taste was also very light with apricots in the middle masked by the hops and in the aftertaste. Then smooth mellow hoppiness at the end with minimal apricots underneath, with a sweet aftertaste.

no apricots detected here. hazy honey/amber color, lots of hops up front with a dry finish. thx to herbjones for sharing

Pours a deep bronze with a full cream colored head. Nice aroma, full leafy hops, underlying malt, and the apricots are underneath as well. Flavor is lightly malty followed by lots of hops with the apricots rounding it out. Medium to full body. Would have been a damn fine IPA on its own, but the apricots are a nice compliment to it.

Hoppy aroma, with significant malt character, roasted malts, a touch of coffee, and a hint of apricot (very faint). Amber color, clear, with white fluffy head. Flavor is hoppy, with significant bitterness, a bit of malt character, maybe some apricot in the finish. The apricot is very faint, you really have to look for it (this is a good thing, in my opinion, but may dissapoint those expecting lots of apricot).

Big woodsy hop nose, just like their 60 Minute IPA. In this regard, I actually wouldn’t be able to distinguish between the two. What is quite distinguished is its beautiful head and flawless body. The moouthfeel is superb: too creamy would have been disastrous with this one. I’m on the side of those who find this more an IPA than a fruit beer. The fruit is delicate and I think its main contribution is to add something like a sourness or acidity which works nicely to give nuance to the light but well-managed bitterness. Good stuff, especially if you like the 60 Minute.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Suttree (3927) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 30, 2004
UPDATED: MAY 5, 2004 Reddish brown/copper, very small head. Smoky, hoppy, and ever so delicate fruit aroma. Full, rich IPA feel to it. Hoppy and full bodied, with just a hint of apricot flavor. This is a fruit beer with style and finesse. The fruit flavors compliment the beer, not overpower it.

12 oz bottle, from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany NY. Dark amber, clear, minimal head retention. Interesting nose of fresh apricots and smelly, pungent hops doesn’t quite gel, but is certainly memorable. Lovely full mouthfeel, and a nice light warming alcohol bite, along with a hint of smokiness, help to counteract the rather syrupy fruitiness. Very interesting on the whole, the best recent DFH I’ve had.
