Smells of hops and apricot. Taste is tart apricot, followed by floral hop and ending on a apricot tart mouth feel. Tasty, really leaves the impression having bitten into an apricot. Aroma of hops and apricot. Taste begins with apricot tartness and then the hops. I agree with RedXlll that the flavors don’t go well together but definitely worth trying and not bad. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2009 Updated: Mar 23, 2009An original, tasty offering from a great brewery. Appearance a crimson scarlet - on par with the darkest of imperial IPAs - and a unique aroma of apricot and bitter citrus hops. The problem is in the flavor. While not bad by any means, the mixture of sweet apricots and bitter cascade hops doesn’t really work in balance with each other. The palate is a bit rough as well, but matches the complexity of the flavor which gets it an extra point - sweet apricot but still bitter. Overall, give it a try, but stick with the 90 minute IPA for the most part. Diogène (548), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Bottle pours a clear amber with a tiny head. Aroma is earthy and floral with notes of caramel and a hint of apricot. Flavor is really progressive, at first, taste is primarily caramel, hops and malt with a bitter touch, then this fades away to let the sweet and distinctive apricot taste kick in. Body is medium with a somewhat oily mouthfeel. Quite interesting for a fruit beer. angrypirate06 (706), Texas, USA

Good dose of hops; the apricot doesn’t really come through, and it’s a bit fizzy for my tastes, but a strong hop finish that I like. ksurkin (366), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2009 bottle from grape & gourmet. pours a very clear, pale amber with a nice, bubbly white head. aroma is fruity and sweet with definite apricot notes, some orange, and some light, floral hops. flavor is surprisingly good with a great contrast of tart apricot, piney hops, and a bit of caramel sweetness. palate is bright, medium bodied, with substantial carbonation, and a tart fruit finish. similar to magic hat #9 but tastes a bit more classy. eyesolus (64), Mill Creek, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Bottle 12oz; just enough sweetness from the fruit to make it enjoyable; medium body; balanced bitter and malt that works well with the fruit; hoppy/acidic remains through digestion. (#35)
