grebs (71), Ohio, USA Aug 10, 2009 Nose leaves something to be desired but flavor does not. I’m usually not a big apricot fan but I like the pairing with the bitter hops. An interesting flavor profile emerges from the two and one that makes the beer very drinkable at 7%. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Aug 10, 2009 Tap at Bier Stein. Pours a bright orange with a small, tight white head. Aroma is light apricot with other citrus fruit hops and light pine and caramel malt. Flavor is a little heftier on the apricot which complement the hops pretty well. Little bit of bitterness on the finish but all in all not bad for what it is. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 7, 2009 On tap at Washington Brewers’ Fest 2009. I was really excited about this because they were pouring it through a Randall filled with apricots and Cascades. Great idea, but unfortunately it wasn’t that impressive. Pours mostly clear orange amber with a small off-white head. Really weak apricot nose. Flavor was much better, with apricot, citrus/grassy hops and caramel. Clean and crisp with an abrupt finish of apricot and citrus. pumpmaster (474), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Aug 2, 2009 12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $2.79 Good! kuphish (150), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours an average sized, rocky, off-white head. Lasting. Clear, deep copper body. Looks fantastic. Sweet malt aroma and some faint apricot with minimal, miscellaneous, muddy hop character. Flavor is of apricot, thick, crystal malt and random hops. Low bitterness. Medium body, super sweet, somewhat resinous and low carbonation. Muddy, strange and mildly enjoyable. kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Jul 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours a perfectly clear dark amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma is some piney hops, a nectary note from the fruit and a discernible biscuity malt backbone. Fairly tart and citric with a sour note in the finish. Little evident hoppiness. Medium to light bodied with a lingering tartness.
yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 28, 2009 12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden deep orange to amber with small off-white head. Aroma is mild hops fruity and caramelish. Sweet and fruity flavoured with a distinct citrusy and light peachy hops dominant flavour. Good caramel malt flavoured body to this. Ends dry and crisp bitter. UriahHeep (103), Georgia, USA Jul 28, 2009 First thing I noticed was the deep amber pour with small fizzing off-white head, about 1/2 inch thickness. Taste is sweet and sour with plenty of bitter hops and caramel sweet malts to keep the brew in balance. The real apricots don’t exactly shine through and overall this beer is one of the weaker and more incohesive Dogfish Heads I’ve tried, especially for a seasonal offering.
