CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Apr 7, 2008 Bottle. Brownish amber, little head. Fruity, citric hop aroma. Sweet with a light touch of apricot and jam. Hard, clean, simplistic malt profile. Lingering bitter finish. Complex interplay between fruit and hops. gunsho (134), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 6, 2008 pours a beautiful rusted amber with a full creamy head. hoppy and sweet in the nose. stone fruit in the mouth. crisp and clean. really good on the first spring day in chicago.
on tap @ the map room bryandhargrave (165), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 6, 2008 best fruit beer i think ive ever had. ill have it again. ill tell others to drink it. didnt think id like it, so i only got one bottle, im gonna go back and get more. its a nice change from a typical ipa. minch25 (350), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 6, 2008 1st impresions: conflicting flavors, sweet apricot, bitter. Prickly sensation, like bitter fuzzy peach skin. Very strange sweetness; if it’s apricot it tastes like apricot syrup, which keeps this from being enjoyable. hombrepalo (748), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 5, 2008 Updated: Apr 7, 2008On Tap @ the Maproom. Dark clear amber pour with some head. Aroma of tangy fruit. The taste is of a fruity apricot carbonated american ale. Not all that special to me. Don’ t know why this is a Fruit beer should be a pale ale. Driftwood6 (214), USA Apr 5, 2008 On tap at Map Room, Chicago. Probaby closer to a pale ale than a head-on fruit beer. Strong hints of apricot, but nothing overpowering. After your palate gets used to the apricot, it’s pretty much a straight-forward pale ale with moderate hops and body-- nothing too big or heavy here. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Apr 5, 2008 purchased at 99 bottles in federal way, washington.
pour is a clear orange with a small off-white head, good lacing.
smell of fruits (apricot and other sweet fruits), malt, touch of caramel.
taste is sweet, thick mouth-feel, apricot is predominate, light on the hops, sweet malts, light carbonation. joekfsu (138), Boardman, Ohio, USA Apr 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear deep orange with 2 cm of foamy off white head that is ends up as a thin film by the end. Aroma of fruit dominates, mostly apricot, some floral hops and a hint of alcohol. Initial flavor is very fruity. End flavors are less fruity and has a hint of the hops. Aftertaste is when the hops really show up and become pretty strong. Some lacing, light to moderate carbonation, light bodied, and some alcohol noted. Drinkability is limited for me personally because of how sweet it is, but a great beer nonetheless.
