ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Dec 5, 2007 Yeah it’s an IPA. Yeah you can taste apricots. I’m not blown away. I do think that the fruit lends a balance that most IPAs don’t have... but I guess that is another way of saying I don’t really go for IPAs. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Nov 30, 2007 Pours a pretty, clear copper with a ton of rising bubbles and a dense, frothy, ivory head that leaves behind creamy lace. The aroma is a bit disappointing, with the apricots and Cascades duking it out for supremacy. Neither actually seems to win the battle, and it results in a bit of a muddled fruity mess backed by a mild caramel note. Medium-bodied and creamy with a moderately bitter finish. The flavor is an interesting combination of a big malty, apricot front and a PNW hops finishing things off satisfyingly bitter. This is one of the better fruited beers that I’ve sampled, but I think I prefer my fruit beers and IPAs separate. KDorgan12 (163), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Nov 27, 2007 Bottle-Memphis. Surprising malt flavor. This one kept me at bay for a long time since I didn’t know how I’d react to the apricot...well, it was delicious - more peachy than apricot but man, what a beer! milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Nov 4, 2007 Intriguing.....my first beer with apricots. I enjoyed the fact that the base is an IPA...it goes well with the apricots. Little malt in the taste, mainly hops, with fruits, apricot being the most prevalent. Good finish. DAVOMCW (7), ST LOUIS, Missouri, USA does not count Oct 29, 2007 DFH MAKES SOME GREAT BEERS.
I MUST HAVE GOTTEN AN OLD BOTTLE.
THE APRICOT AROMA AND TASTE WERE ABSENT. SO WHATS LEFT? AN IPA BY DFH. I WAS LET DOWN AGAIN. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Oct 26, 2007 Excellent. Wonderful subtle apricot over well-balanced mix of malt and full-on IPA hoppiness. A very pleasant surprise for a fruit beer. BeerBellyOSU (47), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 20, 2007 Clear, reddish gold color, big big head. Strangely sweet in the nose, perhaps due to the apricots? Not like a typical IPA, certainly. To me, the apricot is a hindrance. It feels like the sweetness of the apricot kills that hop bite. Certianly a drinkable beer, just not blown away. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 19, 2007 Beautiful bright amber color with a decent long lasting head. Dry hopped with a slight apricot overtones in aroma and taste. Tastes like an IPA with a slight apricot twing to it.
