brigg (213), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 25, 2007 (bottle) Copper body, medium off-white head. The aroma is very fruity and floral - citrus, apricots - along with underlying hops. Sweet apricot and malt flavor quickly fades into the dry, hoppy finish which lingers. Fairly refreshing. Medium bodied, and the carbonation can be felt on the tongue - a good mouthfeel. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jun 25, 2007 this is definately not an ipa. not enough hop on the finish. plus the over flavor is nothing to write home about. fakepurseninja (772), Washington, USA Jun 23, 2007 Some things sound better in concept than how they turn out in the real world. I really love the hop mix, nice mellow PNW. The malt is really sour (the apricots take over the entire malt body)- not tart - which does not seem to fit into the IPA motif, however as an uncategorizable fruit beer I guess it works well. Smells like rotten ass, though. blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA Jun 22, 2007 not what i expected from dogfish as there beers tend to be over the top. actually an ipa with a light apricot flavor. quite refreshing. the fruit complements the beer nicely without overpowering it too much. naudebo (6), USA does not count Jun 22, 2007 Pours copper in color out of the bottle with a reasonable light golden head. This was not what I expected at all, but I was pleasantly surprised. The apricot is muted here, giving way to really tasting the hops as well as the malt biscuit and toast flavors. Pretty well carbonated, somewhat like a champagne that’s started to go flat. The fruit comes on display at the finish, closing with a twinge of hoppy bitterness lasting until the next sip. This is in the same mold as other DFH IPA offerings that focus on balance and allow some sweetness to counter the effect of substantial hop quantities. ApriHop isn’t a groundbreaker, but it accomplishes a limited mission of offering a twist to their great collection of IPA’s. Definitely recommended. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Jun 21, 2007 Updated: Mar 1, 2009One of my first Dogfish beers. This one blends IPA and Apricots. The beer pours a light orange color. Once you take a drink it is an IPA with a fruity finish. Interesting idea from DFH. rayg1 (432), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Jun 21, 2007 Pours a beautiful reddish orange hue with a small tan head. Aroma is a sweet, hoppy, floral smell that is wonderfully inviting. Taste is much sweeter than expected, the apricots are insanely present and even overpower the hops in some regard because to me the sweetness is more noticed than the hop profile. Can’t say I was a big fan of the sweetness or this beer for that matter because of the sweetness. Still, an interesting one from DFH as I have always been impressed with thier ideas pushing the limits of craft brewing Jiggaman21k (9), Rhode Island, USA does not count Jun 18, 2007 Amber color with light hops. Strong fruity apricot flavor in another great Dogfish head IPA
