A strong IPA brewed with real apricots and finished with whole leaf Willamette and Cascade hops.

I remember trying this beer a few years ago and not thinking it was all that good. Not sure if itís changed or I have, but this is tasty! Clear copper/amber color with an off-white head. I couldnít really detect any apricot in the aroma, but I swear there was a mild bacon scent in there along with toasted malt. The malt is very forward on the taste with caramel and a little butterscotch. The hops step right up after this with an earthy, almost mushroomy quality (in a good way). Then, finally, the fruit hits. Not sure if Iíd peg it as apricot specifically without knowing itís in there, but definitely stone fruit with a slight sour edge to it. A light soy sauce saltiness seems to sneak in here too. Thereís a little alcohol bite which really compliments the other components and flavor. Finishes with a sour fruitiness and slight vegetal bitterness. Delicious and interesting.

Old rating. One of my absolute favorite dogfish head brews. Floral hop, malt and dried fruit on the nose. Great hop and malt balance present. Hoppy but not overbearing. Maltly, but not too much. As it comes to room temperature the apricot shows itself. Crisp and clean on the palate. Refreshing with a nice smooth crisp finish. A classic original.

Nose highlights both the hops and fruit with hops being more prevalent. Palate is clean and crisp and very easy to drink. I can see this beer being very refreshing on a hot summer day. Unfortunately itís March and @32ļ outside. Flavor has a slight fruity sweetness with a bitter citrus finish similar to an orange peel that lingers on the tongue. At first I wasnít impressed but it grew on me as I progressed through the glass. By the time I was done, I had become a believer in this brew.

2015 release...Very light and crisp perfect for a hot summer day. The abv is very well discussed in this smooth drinking IPA. Very light notes of apricot and very little hoppiness. Like spreading butter on your bagel...or cream cheese. Smoooooth

Pours a lovely orange-amber, off-white head with moderate retention. Mixed aroma of hops with a sweet malt and a touch of fruit. Itís not bad, but unfortunately thatís all there is in the glass. The hops are not quite as aggressive as they could be, the apricot is more like dried fruit than fresh, but without candied sweetness. Light, fizzy body says spring. Points for restraining the conflicting flavors; deductions for putting them together in the first place. A near-fruit beer for people who only drink IPAs and donít want their narrow routine disturbed.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Hops and malt not much of a fruit presence. Appearance- A dark yellow color with a small white head. Taste- Has a hoppy taste but not overpowering. You can taste the slight fruit flavor. Palate- A medium bodied beer with lots of carbonation. Has a small bitter aftertaste that many who donít care for IPAs will approve of. Overall- A really good solid Dogfish Head brew. I am not a super-hop head but I enjoyed this immensely.

Pours amber/copper, small head. Nose shows sweet malt, overripe apricot and some booze. The apricot is stronger as a flavour. Some spicy hops too, along with a little hot booze and rich sweet malt.

Large head, with good lacing. Aromas of banana, apple, and wine. Light body, with an average amount of carbonation and an astringent finish. Slightly sweet.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint. Clear amber with off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is citrus and floral hops, some grainy malt, and a touch of apricot. Taste is initially sweet malt but turns to citrus peel hoppy bitterness and closes with apricot flesh on the swallow. Medium body, moderate carbonation, texture is on the slick side, fruity dry finish.
