Pours an interesting pinkish golden hue. Has a cloyingly sweet mouthfeel. Some slight tart astringency and an interesting and unfamiliar medicinal bitterness in the background.

Hazy copper colored beer with an off-white head. Aromas are nutty/earthy with some scents of fruit. Tastes of hazelnut, earthy notes, hints of honey, and some brown sugar thrown in as well. These flavors mix with the taste of pomegranate juice for an interesting mix, at times the fruity flavor overpowers the other flavors. Sweet finish with some mint. Interesting. Boozy brew with warming alcohol mainly in the finish. This was much better than I expected.

Appearance: clear purplish-red pour, with a thin, light tan head and very little lace. Aroma: intoxicating aroma of fruit juice, honey, spices, wildflowers, roasted nuts, and fresh dough. Taste: raisiny, with notes of grape juice (pomegranate juice?), hazelnuts, wheat, apple skins, lemon juice, citrus rind, honey, and spice. Finish: smooth and light, with lingering fruit juice sweetness. Notes: Really liked this one; it may be my favorite of all DFH traditional ales, although Midas Touch is hard to beat. Almost like a beer/fruit juice cocktail. Think if it almost like a shandy, but with pomegranate or grape juice rather than lemonade. Or mulled wine...

The aroma is corny, floral, herbal, fruity, and papery. The appearance is copper with a thin head. The taste is sort of like the aroma with a nutty taste. The palate is smooth but a bit thin. Overall I love the concept like most dogfish head beers but I didn’t really like this one like I usually do. Still this is what this brewer does and I hope they never stop!

Draught @ Birreria: This one was served in an interesting stem glass. It poured a clear, amber color. There was a small dense off-white head that left no lacing. It has an interesting nose: a nice spice that must be the myrrh. I also get a whiff of the pomegranate. It has a very nice taste. Spice, a hint of the pomegranate, and some wheat in the body. Somewhat dry, with a faint fruit sweetness in the finish. Really interesting!

(bottle - 750 ml - Night of the Titans 2013) Clear copper pour with a fizzy white head. Aroma is complex to say the least. So many flavors that it was hard to distinguish any particular one. Just smelled mildly sweet and vegetal. Flavor is pretty much the same. Sweet notes, vegetable notes, dry grain notes... way too much going on in it. Didn’t care for it.

Clear copper with a thin bubbly head. Odd nose of corn tortilla strips and tomatoes...literally smells like enchilada soup. Taste is much better though with nuttiness and grape tones, some odd spices and a little bit more of that corn tortilla tone. Light fruity finish.
