Commercial Description:
Artic Cloudberry Imperial Wheat - a tribute to the heart of winter!

This limited release beer was brewed at the Rehoboth Beach brewpub with over 250 lbs of precious CLOUDBERRIES! We used the finest wheat malt to complement their tart character, and 2005 Sterling hops to enhance their spice.

Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear golden, minimal head. The cloudberry aroma is somewhat marmelady and subdued. Sweet and near full bodied. Fruity and rich with evident bold wheat malt character. There is some bitterness, but not much. It’s interesting but the sweetnews of the wheat malt hides a little of the cloudberry character.
Apparently the owner of Oliver Twist brought some of Akkurat’s Cantillon Soleil de Minuit over to the US and let some extreme brewers taste it. DFH decided they wanted to make something similar, but a good harvest of north Swedish cloudberries had to be awaited. This happened in 2005, and then cloudberries was brought over by Oliver Twist. Only one keg was saved and made available for the Swedish pub.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm 28 Apr) Colour is orange or pale amber, with little head. Lovely nose dominated by cloudberries, a bit sweet, like mom’s homemade cloudberry jam. Taste is rather sweet and fruity, dominated by the wheat rather than the berries, but the berries are definitely there. Becomes drier towards the finish. The abv gives it a warming bite and a long finish. Very nice and refreshing, rather complex. But the taste didn’t quite match the lovely aroma.

Keg @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm
Clear, almost shining, bright golden/amber. Fresh summery aroma from the cloudberries. Very refreshing summers drink, I would believe. Nice fruity balance and a refreshingly bitter aftertaste.

(Draught@Oliver Twist) Slightly hazy amber color with no head. A bit sweet aroma of cloudberries. A buttery, mildly acidic cloudberry flavor with wheat and vanilla hints. No signs of alcohol. Medium-bodied, medium-carbonated, slightly sticky and warming palate. Interesting, but not something you’d drink all year round.

Thanks Eric! Poured a hazy light golden/brown color body with a frothy white head. The aroma is light and sweet with blueberries and apples present. The flavors were also very fruity with blueberries (complete with a little piece of stem), green apples, mild pineapple, and some breadiness in the finish. Really surprised to see the alcohol content being 8.5%. If nothing else, I am now very intrigued as to what a cloudberry tastes like.
