pubscout (24), Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA Dec 23, 2003 Ya gotta love what Sam is doing in Delaware! Kind of like a big brother to Raison d'etre, this is an extraordinary beer, ready for your holiday table, though I'd serve it in a regular pint glass instead of the recommended flute. More of the nose seems to come through that way, and this is a nose not to be missed.
I look forward to sitting in front of my fireplace tomorrow evening, enjoying an Au Courant while reading Clement Moore's classic poem to my sons....Merry Christmas! (Hope my family sees this and buys me a case as a present!)
gunhaver (610), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle, courtesy Degirth. Pours a caramel reddish color, ruddy brown, with filmy lacing and a nice head. Aromas of raspberry, corn, grain, grits, some butter. Flavor is filled with intense and interesting fruit. Corn, grain, and other unique elements. Smooth and crisp, has managed to age well. Very good. fishingnet (800), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 2008Bottle courtesy of Retorp. Pours a hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma is vinous with dry dark fruity and spicy yeast. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Good. GMCC2181 (344), Bear, Delaware, USA Jul 31, 2008 Bottle from ibrew2or3! I guess this bottle is about 3 years old. Pours a muddy amber/brown color. Small head. Aroma of grapes, almost wine like. Taste is tart grape juice, or cranberry juice. Not that good, not that bad. It got worse as I drank more of it...Texture is medium. I am glad I tried this beer but I would not suggest seeking it out. Only wish I would of tried this 3 years ago....Thanks Dave for the brew! dkachur (723), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Apr 4, 2008 Another fine bottle from Degarth. This beer looks absolutely grotesque, like a mixture of tomato juice and prune juice. No head at all. Strong currant aroma with some grape and apple. Syrupy mouthfeel. Faint taste of currants. Sour. This feels like it was much better when fresh. kapusta (65), Dover, Delaware, USA Nov 21, 2007 Gold colored ale with fruit/berry scents, but no real fruit flavor. This was much more sour/tart than would be another ’fruit beer", but not at all what I would have expected. Relatively bland
