COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Audible Ale has somewhat of a dual meaning for us here at Dogfish. As everyone knows we are fond of both music and beer, and both have become intertwined as a source of inspiration and stimulus.

This ale speaks loudly with its character. But first and foremost this ale speaks to the need of sometimes having to change things up last minute, and pulling a last-second audible on brew day.

Instead of making the beer originally planned that day, it was decided last second to make an American Brown Ale with Syrah grape juice and cranberries. A strong contrast between sweet and sour shapes the flavor of this “red velvety” ale. Tart fruit, nuts, and milk chocolate dominate the profile, coupled with faint notes of earthy spicy American hop varieties.

On tap at Rehoboth. Like so many DFH beers, I don’t quite know whether I like the beer, our just the experience. Chocolate wine beer. That’s what it tastes like. Grapes, wine tannins, chocolate with a sour finish. Worth trying.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours close to black with a tan thin head, dissipates quickly. Aroma is smokey with notes of cocoa, licorice and molasses. Flavor is of tart grapes, cocoa, molasses, with some nutty bitterness.

This draft brew from the brew pub poured a head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque black brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt and fruity. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow dark malt aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of spices chocolate brown malt and fruity. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
