Braudog (3461), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Nov 12, 2007 Draft pint at the Rehoboth brewpub. Black as black can be. The thin dark-tan head disapates rapidly. The aroma is almost whisky-like ... likewise to the flavor, this smacks of an oak-aged brew. Thick with molasses and bourbon-like viscosity. Quite yummy. (#3178, 11/7/2007) beachbum25 (583), Powellville, Maryland, USA Oct 25, 2007 On tap @ Rehoboth Brewpub-Pours black w/a moderate brown head, looks a little like a Guinness; tastes a lot better. Strong chocolate/coffee aroma. Classic flavors of chocolate & coffee, has a little bit of a smoked flavor to it as well. Good solid porter, not a smooth or as complex as some of the better ones, but solid; Very drinkable. jblendy (451), Hawthorne, New Jersey, USA Oct 22, 2007 On tap at the Rehobeth brewpub, rating from notes scrawled in crayon on one of kids place mats Pours black with a frothy dark tan head, Light, but pleasant aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, and slight anise. Flavor follows suit, with present, but minimal bitterness. Palate is full and slightly bitter, with all of those roasted flavors lingering. Overall, very well balanced, and certainly worth trying if you get the chance. kkearn (599), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 8, 2007 1999 vintage. Draft, Monks DFH dinner 12/12/06 (I also had this at the DFH dinner 10/8/02, i wish i had notes from back then...)
Poured deep brown with khaki head. Complex arom of plums, licorice, and anise. Taste was as complex as the smell, with notes of cocoa, anise, herbs, and a muted fruity/plum taste. Held up fairly well, I’d like to see DFH brew this again. very enjoyable. Lizabeth (360), east falmouth, Massachusetts, USA Jan 5, 2004 Black with just a touch of garnet. Fluffy tan head. Chocolate, coffee, licorice, prunes and raisons. Tasty.
