Poured from bottle to Glass. Deep copper hue with off white head. Aroma is figs, toffee, honey, straw, raisins. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium body and crisp carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with an ethanol finish. Overall this brew was interesting.

Transfer from BA review on 3-27-13-
Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance- The beer is served a brownish-bronze color with a reddish tint. Upon serving there are just wisps of foam on the top of the brew, which fade fast, leaving almost no lace.
Smell – The aroma is a big complex mix. The strongest aromas are of a fruity and wheaty aroma with the fruity being of orange, pomegranate, and wine grapes. Mixed with these aromas is a smell of honey as well as a yeast and some spice.
Taste – The taste starts out with a sweeter-fruitier flavor of pomegranate with some wheat and yeast flavors as well. As the flavor advances from the beginning, some notes of a honey sweetness as well as orange and clover come to the tongue. A light nuttiness comes to the tongue more toward the end along with some, floral and herbal hop and other spice flavors that I just can’t place. At the very end, a somewhat wine like flavor comes to the tongue leaving a slightly bittered but still fruity flavor to linger.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side in terms of its creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is rather average. The thinner body and moderate carbonation, of tiny carbonation bubbles, creates a very crisp feel for the brew with it being fantastic for the fruit, wine, and rather extensive list of other flavors that exist within.
Overall – A very interesting brew. It has an odd mix of flavors, which in the end work out rather well together. I would say this is one that is worth a try as it is quite unique and complex, but yet still very tasty and drinkable.

I’m getting a lot of my mom’s fig preserves in this one. Dark fruit. Caramel sugars. Nice aroma. Less interesting flavor.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft: Poured a light amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of hazelnut and unrefined grain is more or less interesting. Taste is also dominated by unrefined grain with some strong notes of hazelnut with some residual sugars which is probably derived of the honey that was added to this beer. Body is light with medium carbonation and with no apparent alcohol. I appreciate all the historical research that went into this beer but not sure I really enjoy the final product enough to try this one again.

Honey clover rasins and somethin come from this slightly hazy amberish purpleish brew with no head The taste is pomegranate kinda some crazy honey and spice. Its weird but not super horrible. But very different. The taste lingers like none other and i wish it had some more hops. Its a medium body with good carb. Worth a try if ur daring.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sample at the brewery. Earthy aroma. Flavor was slightly sweet and very earthy. Sweetness I think is from the honey. Enjoyable will drink again.

Dogfish Head, Etrusca, bomber.
APPEARANCE- great light brown color. Nice head, but it dissipates quickly. Very carbonated as there’s a lot of bubbles originating from the bottom of the glass.
NOSE - Distinct, but unlike most other beers I’ve tried. Very earthy, but difficult to distinguish.
FLAVOR - very unique flavor. Slightly sweet but not malty, and certainly no pronounced hop flavors at all. It evolves as it warms up to reveal the sweetness has honey notes.
NOTES - this is a very exciting beer in the ancient series. It’s not an everyday drinker, but I enjoy thinking about what a beer may have been like almost 3000 years ago. I was able to taste this alongside the Birra del Borgo (one of the other collaborators on this experiment), and it was a lot of fun.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Good brew cold and poured into a glass. Dark brown, opaque, not much head or anything. Aroma is dusty; mildew. It has lots of dark fruit, raisins, plums, grapes, coconut milk, roasted malts, mild spice, chocolate and funk. Taste is more robust and fruity than the aroma. The flavors are dominated by raisin, chocolate and malt. Less of that funkiness comes out.

Bottle. Pours dark amber with a small off-white head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of honey, caramel, herbs, nuts and spice. Flavor was sweet with honey, herbs, pomegranate, earth, light caramel, hazelnut and spices. Medium body, sticky texture, dry sweet finish.
