ditmier (1023), Boise, Idaho, USA Feb 4, 2009 2006 Bottle - Pours a light amber with no head...aroma is belgian yeast and faint berry...flavour is similar, yeasty, a tad spicy, dry fruit...alcohol is pretty well hidden...good experience beer... dzzz333 (17), Elkton, Maryland, USA Feb 3, 2009 Its Black!...its Blue!...but it had more of a redish color with pinkish head....Its avg head made it a breeze to pour in my snifter. I just could get over that FRUITY FLAVA FLAVOR! and I highly recommond this potent/fruity beer that even ur girl wil...but it STILL aint for the weak hearted....Final thought...if u like beers that will knock ur socks off but at the same time is very refreshing...u will be hooked like CRAAAAAACCCKKK ROCK! jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Feb 3, 2009 Bottle: Pours a golden copper color with a thin white head. Nose is certainly fruity, but also malty and bready. Kind of dry and some faded hops. Tastes malty with a light fruity presence. Slight blackberry, again dry and lightly floral. Thanks ditmier. MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jan 25, 2009 This is the second bottle of this beer I have had, and I was not that impressed with it. The beer seemed too sour and tart for my liking. It pours very nice and clean: clear copper color, very attractive, and not but a thin trace of head on it. Aroma is a bit of grass and sugary syrup. It doesn’t really tell much from the beer by the aroma. The flavor doesn’t come off as bitter and sour as before. It’s much more refreshing. I let this sit out to warm up a bit and it lets the flavors come out more. There is some (surprisingly) mild fruitiness, yeasty flavors and a tad bit of tart. This really helps once it warms up. More of the bitter berry flavor comes out as this goes on. Quite a tasty treat, but not as good as the red and white. Narnad (682), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Jan 24, 2009 Bottled 2/12/07 Pours orange with some red hints for color and a medium white head that quickly fades. Aroma is very very sweet due to hints of fruit mixed with some spice, alcohol and a little yeastiness. Flavor is pretty spicy and yeasty up front and moves into an indiscernible fruit fruity sweetness melded with some bready notes and finishes with a strong alcohol presence. Mouth feel has a moderately heavy beer feel with a dry and tart finish at the end, reminiscent of a tart blueberry pie. Overall the beer is a pretty good one with some very interesting flavors melded together. Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2009 750mL bottle, bottled on 2/12/2007. Poured clear coppery orange with a short-lived cap of white head. The aroma picked up tart blackberries and blueberries over a syrupy, thicker, meaty dark fruit puree.. spicy and strong.. intriguing. The flavor had the same thick fruity base with berry meat over a caramel base.. prickly alcohol-infused blackberry skin tartness all around the edges.. finished with more warm berries. Heavier-bodied on the palate and nicely spicy.. touch cloying at the back.. very interesting beer. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jan 18, 2009 Finally broke down and got this. Pours a pretty clean ruby orange with a two finger bubbly pinkish head. Has some suspension. The nose is sharp, fruity, rummy and warm, raisiny, dark fruits, belgian feel, . The flavor is warm, rummy/raisiny, sharp, peppery quality, alcohol comes through, Belgian yeast, earthy, sweet, fruit comes through but not with two definitive characteristics. Warming sharp palate. Not bad, just needs some work. TeamTrappist (367), jericho, New York, USA Jan 14, 2009 Bottle, poured a dark amber with a thin off white head. Strong fruity, yeasty nose. The blueberry is the predominant fruit flavor, but it didn’t overpower as much as I had expected, and complimented the belgian notes nicely. I found it to be fairly well balanced, with a backbone somewhat typical of dogfish head. The carbonation was very evident, which made this beer nice and lively. Not a big fruit beer fan, but I enjoyed this much more than expected. Very nice
