nj4christ (26), Columbus, New Jersey, USA Jan 14, 2009 A bit drier than I expected for a fruity beer from Dogfish (compared to a really sweet one like the Fort). It could be from the yeast. Strong berry presence hides the alcohol well, but the warmth tells you it’s still there. Could stand a better balance, but a good beer nonetheless. jeff789 (360), Pennsylvania, USA Jan 11, 2009 Pours a hazy ruby with a white head.... The berry aroma overwhelms the nose... Difficult to drink as the alcohol and berry notes play to create a sensation of doing some sort of creamy blueberry schnapps shot with each sip... There is a bit of spiciness in the finish obviously from the yeast... Finish is overly full bodied with a lingering warmth from the alcohol that is hard to overcome... DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Jan 9, 2009 750 mL bottle purchased at World of Beer in Tampa, FL. Aroma is nice and aromatic with plenty of berry notes. I detect blueberries more than anything else. There is also a nice sweetness present with a lingering herbal and vinous nose. Nice. Transparent amber/orange body with a smallish, off-yellow head. Light lacing. Caramelly, fruity, chewy, lightly cloying sticky start and middle. Becomes quite fruity with more blueberry than blackberry flavors. Lightly astringent tartness is present later on. Finishes with wine-like aftertaste. Very good. andyhite (290), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jan 5, 2009 this is definitely a smoker’s beer. the flavors are fairly mellow at first. However, after a relaxing smoke, the berries are all over the flavor. It’s a pretty cool brew, and i give additional points for originality done well. but it’s just kinda too fruity with a lack of balance overall. nonetheless, it’s a tasty treat. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA Jan 5, 2009 pours light purple with a light head.smells like raspberry juice watered down with a flowery scent. amazingly, no noticeable booze scent.flavor is nice raspberry, a bit oily & thin, but i like it.not really picking up on any blueberry, but considering what a whore i am for raspberry i’m not surprised.the alcohol hear is sneaking up on me. good times.

hallinghansen (263), Odense SV, Denmark Jan 4, 2009 Bottle. Hazy reddish body, with a small off-white head. Aroma reminds me of my childhood, when my grandmother made jam. Dark berries and a touch of yeast. Flavor is dark berries, sweet honey/sugar. Alcohol is well hidden. A nice brew.
It is not worth 120 danish kr. (11-12£) Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bottled on 02/13/2007, rated on 1/2/2009, 1 pint 9.6 fl. oz. bottle pours a hazed rust amber with a small head (I poured hard). The aroma is sort of funky and blueberry. The flavor is dominated by the blueberry and blackberry, sweetness, with some sour notes here and there. I guess I can sort of see the Belgian yeast characteristics, but not in a very pronounced way. The palate is pretty rich and coating. The alcohol is really well hidden and makes this beer dangerous and deceptively drinkable. Overall, I’m glad I got it since I am a big fan of the dark berries. Under rated IMHO. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bomber at Jerry’s. Darker amber with light, off-white head / Fermented dark berry nose / Medium body, acidic, moderately sweet, with good finish / Flavors of fermented berries, predominantly blackberries, with notes of banana and spice / A stylish, almost wine-like brew.
