blipp (1630), Newark, New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottled Feb. ’07. Pours clear red with an off white head. Fruity/berry aroma, more blackberry than blueberry. Smooth in the mouth with a rather light flavor. It’s not overly sweet, and again, more blackberry. Not bad. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA Aug 14, 2008 Good brew, drinks almost like wine IMO. Very fruity and sugary on the nose, with a nice hint of malt. Taste is very fruity, full of dark berries as the label suggests. Tart finish. Would drink again, but probably wouldn’t seek out. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 14, 2008 750 ml bottle from Chuck’s Liquor in Bowling Green. Poured a clear mahogany color with a small whitish head...approximately one finger. Aroma was very complex. Sweet malt combined with various over ripe fruits. Flavor was solid with some fruit flavor and a malty balance. Mouthfeel was creamy. Alcohol was well masked. Very good beer, though not as good as the Red & White. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 8, 2008 750ml bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a deep amber body with a small off-white head. Interesting complexity in this beer. Malty and fruity with some bright piquant notes. Very well masked alcohol. Nice hop presence. Still missing something here. But not bad. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Aug 7, 2008 This was a confusing beer for me (bottle at Papago). I was promised black&blueberries, but got a syrupy quad. Really fell flat for me. I was expecting great things after my Red & White encounter in Boston, but I detected very little fruit (what I did find was more like funky dates than berries). bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Aug 2, 2008 750 ml bottle from Wine Specialist (12.99). Ruby orange color with a smallish white head. Aromas of dark berries and bready malt. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly sour, dark berries, caramel, and a light touch of grassy hop. Finish is neither sweet nor sour. The long result is more blackberry than anything else. Upon reflection it seems to have a candi aspect. A berry tripel? bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2008 I enjoyed this beer. I probably won’t go looking for it again, not at 18 bucks and bottle.
But I’m a fan of Dogfish Head and had to give it a try. benwa420 (43), Aspen, Colorado, USA Jul 31, 2008 bottle. The fruit in this beer is not overwhelming. It is there but not that intense. I like that about this beer. It has that nice belgian style flavor beneth the fruit of the blackberries and blueberries. Still very smooth for 10%
