I enjoyed this one. nice sweet and sour flavor Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Jul 5, 2008 Bottled: Pours hazy and dark orange with a nice pale, pink head. Berry nose with yeast. Crisp, medium bodied and with a sweet /sour flavour. Slightly bitter finish. The 10 pct. isn’t present untill the end. I normally don’t drink fruit beer, but this one is an enjoyable brew. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jul 4, 2008 Updated: Jul 17, 2009Bottle. Pours a purple body with a light color head. Lots of blueberry and blackberries in the nose and flavor. Very very good. Some hop character and of course the etoh is kinda strong but i think it has its place as well. I really enjoyed this one. 4.1
I just had this one again, what the hell was i thinking. 3.5 sleepylopes (313), New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 ruby color with a pale washout head. nice and ripe aroma with cream and yeast, a touch of hops. not as sweet and not as sour as you would thing. crisp finish that shows the hops and alcohol. brewblackhole (1366), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Jun 23, 2008 Aroma is very berryish, with someone kind of soapy off yeast backing, taste is slightly sour blackberry, with a bitter drying finish, slightly astringent, alcohol only subtlely hinted at,with definite warming of the tummy. I’m drinking on a warm humid night where a perky tart fruit beer is hitting the spot, doesn’t leave that thickish afterfeel on the tongue,so its even refreshing in its own way. Enjoyable is certain circumstances BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 19, 2008 So I’m not quite sure why everyone is so harsh with this one. In the glass, this beer glows blood orange with golden highlights and a 1/2 inch peach foam that hangs on for a minute or two. Aroma is freshly picked black & blueberries (as one would hope). Noticeable sourness, belgian yeast, banana, clove, and spice are on the tongue. Thick enough to remember, not too thick for nightmares...interesting. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Jun 18, 2008 Interesting offering here. Pours cherry-amber into the glass, with a pinkish off-white fizzy, almost soda-like head, diminishing to the tiniest ring that leaves very tiny lace. The tart cider-like fruitiness shows up on the top of the palate, with small vinegar notes midway in the mouth, where the yeast predominates. The finish is much the same, with a touch of alcohol warmth to pepper the back-palate. This isn’t nearly as complex as the description might lead one to believe. I didn’t pick up on the "subtle bitterness" as commercially described, nor a lot of spice in the finish (although, to be truthful, it did get better as the brew warmed, but muddied by all the other vinegar, yeast and sours going on). I was a little disappointed with the mouthfeel, which was a weird cross between a weak soda, and not a lot of substance to the body. It’s a decent brew, just odd. I love the Dogfish Head brewery, but this just travels in too many directions to give a clear headway where the concentration lies. thenick (742), North Bellmore, New York, USA Jun 18, 2008 Bomber, shared. Pours an amber color with a medium white to off-white head. Aroma is heavy berry up front, which really entices you to drink the beer, as well as some yeast notes. Taste is far more muted than the aroma, with slight malt and yeast notes crashing into a slight spice finish with a tart aftertaste that could only be a result of the berries. Remains smooth throughout, though the alcohol became more noticeable as the beer warmed slightly.
