Commercial Description:
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

Got a bottle (1 pint 9.6oz) today, a very smooth beer, goes down really easy. Nice berry taste. Really a nice beer. would definitely drink again...infact i think i’ll finish the bottle today. Drank another bottle of this, a fantastic daily drinker. Dogfish head scores again.

Draft and Max’s Taphouse. Pours out an amber color with a medium head. aroma was fantastic. Full of fruity berries. I really liked the aroma. flavor on the other hand was not to match. it was sweet as expected, but the berries in the aroma was not very present and the had a slight burn in the finish.

Bottled. Pours out in a clear reddish amber colour with a frothy off-white foam. Rather stale and dusty aroma of neutral yeast, almonds and mild blueberries. Medium to full-bodied with notes of yeast, mild pepper, blueberry jam and mild grass. Dryish finish of yeast and mild spices with rather dense jammy undertones of blackberries and sweet blueberries. Decent, the berry part felt quite dumbed down.

Aroma is mild berry and a sort of biscuit maltiness. Cloudy orange/amber color. with a pinkish white head. Not a lot of hops in the flavor, the berries and malt last from start to finish, with some tartness that comes at the very end. Pretty smooth considering the alcohol content. Not bad but their are others that are better.

Bottle, 750 mL. 2008 vintage. Amber/deep orange with a slightly pinkinsh, diminishing head. Aroma of berries and malt. Slightly sour with a dry finish, and a lasting aftertaste. Good, but not great.

750 ml bottle, 2008 stamped on the neck.
Hazy orange with a pinkish hue.
Aroma is sour bread with loads of fruit in the background.
Flavor starts with some yeasty notes, then the fruit sets in. Blueberries dominate for me with the blackberries fading in and out, going back and forth from sweet to tart.
Finish starts out dry, but by the end of the second glass it is starting to get a NutraSweet like character to it.
Bottle is probably best shared with a couple friends.

pours an extreme reddish orange color, with a two finger beige pink head. The flavor is kinda tart and dry, with an alcohol finish. You can taste the blackberries over the blue also a spicy finish. pretty decent overall but not my favorite

Bottle. Pours an orange-ruby with a quickly diminishing pale head. The nose is a weird, astringent raspberry with lots of dry cardboard. The initial flavour is somewhat sweet. As the brew sits on the tongue, tartness begins to arise. Passing the tongue, the sourness explodes. Though, it’s not really a pleasant sourness. It’s rather astringent. A light bitterness follows in the really dry finish. Blueberries and raspberries are dominant throughout the entire experience. I’m not really enjoying this a whole lot. I wish this came in a smaller bottle.
