Commercial Description:
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, jerc & tupalev - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Amber colour with a good sized white head. Not much fruit in the aroma at first, just some mellow malt, not very promising. Flavour is much nicer, with a good balance of sweet malt and berries, and not nearly as much alcohol as expected from a 10% beer - and then, suddenly, the aroma is just FULL of fruit! Very interesting, and pretty nice.

Pours orange with a hint of ruby. Aroma of yeast and any other wheat beer. No fruit noted in the nose. Taste of blueberries and alcohol. Strong alcohol presence, especially for a fruit beer. Very sweet, but was expected for a DFH brew. It was OK but would not seek out again.

A bit of a funky nose. Palate is blackberries and raspberries, balanced but sharp carbonation. Alcohol is incredibly well hidden. Expected it to be more malty. Great beer.

Clear red-orange beer with a huge frothy white head. Aroma is mostly sweaty, wet hair, not very enticing. Boozy caramel flavour, very sweet, with a berry essence that is quite subdued. Hot alcoholic finish. A disappointment.

Not a big fan of this one. For me this beer is way to fruity with 300lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. Wont ever get again!

Bottle, pours a red orange amber with a beige head. Aroma is super sweet and alcohol. Flavor is berry sweet with way too much alcohol for this beer. This is not for me

A very dry beer with a distinct blackberry flavor. This is a fruit beer that has a noticeable winish touch. A bitter bite accentuates the tart flavors.

Bottle. Pours a nice red/orange color with a small mostly white head. Aroma reminds me of a cider with certain hints of fruit. Flavor is good but a bit odd. Citrusy and fruity, the fruit I can taste seems to be a raspberry, which must come from the combo of blueberries and blackberries. There is some nice sourness to the beer like a lambic. Finish has just the tiniest bit of hops with some fruity malitness. Not bad at all.
