Commercial Description:
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

Clear red-orange beer with a huge frothy white head. Aroma is mostly sweaty, wet hair, not very enticing. Boozy caramel flavour, very sweet, with a berry essence that is quite subdued. Hot alcoholic finish. A disappointment.

Not a big fan of this one. For me this beer is way to fruity with 300lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. Wont ever get again!

Bottle, pours a red orange amber with a beige head. Aroma is super sweet and alcohol. Flavor is berry sweet with way too much alcohol for this beer. This is not for me

A very dry beer with a distinct blackberry flavor. This is a fruit beer that has a noticeable winish touch. A bitter bite accentuates the tart flavors.

Bottle. Pours a nice red/orange color with a small mostly white head. Aroma reminds me of a cider with certain hints of fruit. Flavor is good but a bit odd. Citrusy and fruity, the fruit I can taste seems to be a raspberry, which must come from the combo of blueberries and blackberries. There is some nice sourness to the beer like a lambic. Finish has just the tiniest bit of hops with some fruity malitness. Not bad at all.

Bomber. Bold, red color with a sugary sweet nose and upfront fruity taste. The carbonation and mouthfeel is very champagne-like. Tastes like a cross between one of those sweet malt beverage things you can get for $4 per six pack and a nice beer...kinda ruining the nice beer. The more of this I drank, though, the more I liked it as the sweetness settled down and it came across more refreshing. Certainly an unusual and nice change of pace beer, but it’s really too sweet for me, and WAY too expensive for something like this.

Strong tart cherry flavor. Not that complex, dominant fruit flavor. Tastes like some kriek lambics. Dry alcoholic finish. Not especially drinkable, but decent for a few sips. Interesting, but not that great.

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House (Florida). When first poured from a distance, it did appear slightly purple with a purplish head, but on closer inspection (that is, when it arrived in front of me), it more closely resembled a deep amber, slightly dark orange color with a thick, fluffy white-tan head. Aroma is of deep ripe berries, hints of banana and some faint spiciness. Taste is also strongly of ripe berries with hints of citrus. Very interesting beer that reminds me of some of the Belgian lambic and kriek beers we have tried.
