Commercial Description:
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

I thought this was a very fine beer. It was served cold from a 750ml bottle. The color wasn’t exactly "deep purple" with a "pink head," but more amber with an off-white head. Good lacing. The aroma was hugely infused with the berries, and I thought I smelled some apple too but I might be retarded. The taste reflected the aroma, It reminded me of Festina Lente. Malty and fruity and just a great overall beer that is easy to drink. Nice warming finish thanks to the alcohol. Would highly recommend.

Bottle. Aroma is fruity and very dry. A very strong fruit intial taste that turns dry quickly. Much more like champagne.

I’m not too much on fruit beers, but this is one of the better fruit beers that i have had. Its a bit tart, but has a flavorful aroma.

Aroma is fruity, kinda like Jungle Juice. Not much of a head, nice brownish red color. Tastes like Lambic. Very fruity. Holla

Aroma was slightly tart with frutiy undertones. poured a ruby color with a smallish head. Flavor was fruity with some spiciness coming you.. Some more acidity really would have made this brew shine. flavor was just kind of up front and friuty with little going on in the backround, lacked complexity. bubbly mouthfeel, that did seem rather soft. alright, but not worth the $20 a bottle I paid for it at Market Cross, Shippenburg

Bottle (750ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev - my bottle. Hazy deep amber pour, solid frothy off-white lasting head. Dry aroma, wheaty grain, dry peppery yeast and mild tart berryfruit. The taste is much more malt and fruit-forward, medium alcohol, dry, mild floral hop bitterness, slightly pungent. Average body, a little astringent, but a long dry tart berryfruit finish - the fruit isn’t all that strong in the aroma, but it’s in the taste for sure.

Bottle. Pours an amber color with a modest slightly off-white head. Definitely blueberry in the aroma, with a fair bit of malt and some other fruit notes. Flavor is much the same, with some funky notes and a little bitterness. Not bad.

Cloudy reddish pinkish purple, thin pink head. Nice aroma of raspberry jam and red wine. Flavor comes across as a fruity red wine, with the notes of raspberry and blueberry definately noticeable. Interesting and tasty.
