Commercial Description:
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

Wonderful aroma, and beautiful color. Flavor is full of ripe field berries. The flavor is slightly spicey, but plenty fruity. Sweet, almost too sweet. Not enough complexity to be great, but still a worth while drink. Dogfish continues to push the envelope.

Bottle (cell phone rating). Reddish, white head. Sweet aroma with fruit, berries, malt and a little citrus. Flavour is sweet and fruity with berries, alcohol, malt and a light, dry bitterness.

Medium white head shrinks quickly. Pretty brownish red body with carbonation. Vaguely fruity aroma, very faint. Dry-and-sweet fruity blueberry taste with milky notes. Dry hoppy blueberry aftertaste. Nice! (0.76l bottle at Knut Albert’s.)

A tutti frutti beer! Mild berry taste, well balanced - hops blend well in with the berries. Both sweet and dry. Refeshing and deceivingly easy drinking.

750 ml btl from Bevmo Tempe. The words fruit and beer usualy dont work for me but, thats not the case with this beer. Great nose of black and blueberries. Nice and mellow on the pallet, could have drank it all night.

The aroma of berries sneaks through a little bit. Thin head. It is a solid fruit beer but it has a serious kick @ 10% alcohol. Decent beer, I would be likely to drink it more often if it was available in 12 ounce bottles.

Big bottle, $12.49 at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville, VA. Reddish amber with an inch of pinkish head. Aromas of berry fruit. Alcohol with some fruitiness in the back end. Not bad at all, but nothing I’d drink on a regular basis.
