The flute showed off the light pink head nicely. The scent was of berries, carbonation and some yeast. I can’t quite say why I hated this so much. The palate was thin and flat. I didn’t think that the berries came through nearly enough to make this something special. I tried to get through with out pouring it down the drain...but I failed....or the beer failed me. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 19, 2007 Clear chestnut colour with an off white head. Malty and light caramel sweet aroma with lots of berry fruityness. Fruity, sugary sweet flavor with a light alcohol note. Berry fruity finish. ChainGangGuy (2549), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 16, 2007 Appearance: Pours a reddish-purple body with thin, short-lived off-white head.
Smell: A fairly delicate aroma of blackberry juice, blueberry syrup, and sweet-smelling malts.
Taste: Void of the striking, juicy fruitiness I was hoping for, I’m disappointed to find it was merely a faint, awkward candyish berry sweetness. Finishes tart and medicinal.
Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Mouthfeel is sticky, approaching syrupy. Mild carbonation.
Drinkability: The real loser in all of this is me, as I still have another bottle of this stuff waiting for me at home. Kinz (2200), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 16, 2007 Amber with a ruby tint, compact head fades fairly quickly. Aroma is faint, a bit of caramel, undefined dark fruit, and a touch of alcohol. Flavor matches the nose almost precisely. Perhaps a touch more fruit, but this is definitely a beer with notes of dark fruit as opposed to the fruit smacking you in the face. Alcohol is present but moslty integrated. Dry finish. Decent, but I was expecting something more outrageous for some reason. Did not strike me as particularly Belgian in nature. Bockyhorsey (2511), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 16, 2007 750 ml bottle. Aroma of fermented fruit and malted grain. Good red body with pinkish head. At first all i got from beer was alochol and the presence of friut was limited. Got a decent fruity plum and a carmael presence by finish. Left a dry fruit presence on the palate that wasn’t in the flavor odd. vyvvy (2034), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 15, 2007 750 bottle. Many thanks to Hopscotch for sending this beer my way. Pours dark reddish amber with lots of carbonation and a tight beige head. The aroma has raspberries, but mainly blueberries for the fruit aspect. There is also caramel malt, light spice, light cream and some alcohol. Medium / thick body with a good amount of semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with strong berries, caramel malt with some warmth. It is thick and lightly cloying. The finish has more warmth with some added spice. As it warms more fruits comes out and the alcohol subsides. A good beer, but not too exciting. thornecb (1753), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2007 Pours bright cherry red into an oversized wine glass. Off-white micro head subsides to skim surface and hug rim. Very little aroma. Crisp and rather bland with a slight blackberry in the middle. Lasting sour/bitter finish. aracauna (2374), Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 13, 2007 This is a GORGEOUS beer. The blackberries impart a purpley red to the body and even tinges the head a very subtle shade of pink. I’m assuming it’s the blackberries, although the blueberries stain red as well, just not as vividly as blackberries. The beer is fairly dry, and a tad overcarbonate. There’s a bit of woody maltiness in there. The fruit flavors actually aren’t overpowering and more along the lines of subtle.
