Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Jun 16, 2007 Amber with a ruby tint, compact head fades fairly quickly. Aroma is faint, a bit of caramel, undefined dark fruit, and a touch of alcohol. Flavor matches the nose almost precisely. Perhaps a touch more fruit, but this is definitely a beer with notes of dark fruit as opposed to the fruit smacking you in the face. Alcohol is present but moslty integrated. Dry finish. Decent, but I was expecting something more outrageous for some reason. Did not strike me as particularly Belgian in nature. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 16, 2007 750 ml bottle. Aroma of fermented fruit and malted grain. Good red body with pinkish head. At first all i got from beer was alochol and the presence of friut was limited. Got a decent fruity plum and a carmael presence by finish. Left a dry fruit presence on the palate that wasn’t in the flavor odd. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Jun 15, 2007 750 bottle. Many thanks to Hopscotch for sending this beer my way. Pours dark reddish amber with lots of carbonation and a tight beige head. The aroma has raspberries, but mainly blueberries for the fruit aspect. There is also caramel malt, light spice, light cream and some alcohol. Medium / thick body with a good amount of semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with strong berries, caramel malt with some warmth. It is thick and lightly cloying. The finish has more warmth with some added spice. As it warms more fruits comes out and the alcohol subsides. A good beer, but not too exciting. thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jun 14, 2007 Pours bright cherry red into an oversized wine glass. Off-white micro head subsides to skim surface and hug rim. Very little aroma. Crisp and rather bland with a slight blackberry in the middle. Lasting sour/bitter finish. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Jun 13, 2007 This is a GORGEOUS beer. The blackberries impart a purpley red to the body and even tinges the head a very subtle shade of pink. I’m assuming it’s the blackberries, although the blueberries stain red as well, just not as vividly as blackberries. The beer is fairly dry, and a tad overcarbonate. There’s a bit of woody maltiness in there. The fruit flavors actually aren’t overpowering and more along the lines of subtle. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Jun 12, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with an off-white head. Sweet malty and fruity blueberry aroma. Sweet malty fruity flavor with some hints of blueberry. Long fruity finish with some sour hints and a bitter aftertaste. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 12, 2007 Bottled. Sampled with stegosaurus. Pours a dark red-purple with a thin head. Aroma of fruit and berries. Flavor was clean and fruity with a medium body. Finish is dry and crisp ksigty (107), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA Jun 11, 2007 First off, putting Donald Sutherland on the label is pure genius. The form fitting jacket is a little much though. The beer itself is interesting. It pours with little head and a fruity champagne aroma. I don’t know how this qualifies as beer, but I guess it does. However, it is the uniqueness that gets my attention. Given the ingredients, I would expect it to be much sweeter. I was pleasantly surprised how balanced out it was. The flavor was a little more carbonated than I expected. The aftertaste was pleasant as well. I thought this beer was quite good. I wouldn’t drink it every night, but it wouldn’t disappoint me either.
