Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Square Liquors - 750 ml bottle. Ruby red pour - like a red zinfandel - with a tight white head - sticky lacing. Faint fruity aroma with brief hints of alcohol. Some intial berry flavors are encountered and after a while some toffee notes take over. Sweet, malty back end with some nutty accents. Mouthfeel is thick and rich and the 10% abv is hidden well. A nice one to savor over and spend some time with. Can’t figure out if the guy on the label looks more like Dustin Hoffman or Huey Lewis?

Mahogany pour with very thin head. Mild fruity berry like aroma. Black beery taste which definetly gets better as it is warmed. This was just ok for me as I have never been a big fruit beer lover.

750 ml bottle ($10 + tax) and served in my other NB worthy glass: DISCLAIMER: I LOVE BLUEBERRIES...

This beer has a deep purple and brown hue with little head nor lace. The nose detects ripened farm fresh blueberry, blackberry, and some grainy malts along with a dash of sugary Belgian character. The flavor profile is sweet fruits over a layer of malt and grassy hops. Simple and flavorful, a joy to the palate. The mouth feel is sticky and playful with a aggressive carbonation level.

I knew I would like this more than your average ratebeerian. Disregard this rating for I am a Blueberry whore...RUMPH

Bottle bought for me by McBeer at Chicone’s in Hudson, WI. I can get it in Chicago, but it was a buck cheaper. Any time I can save some money on DFH, I’m going to do it! Sweet aroma, with nothing overly special about it. Nice, white head. Contrived peach color. Subtle flavor. Alcohol well hidden. Took some time for my palate to adjust to it. A little thin, but pretty good. Overpriced.

750 ml. bottle. Poured an medium amber. Aroma was almost non exsistent. Couldn’t distinguish any blackberry’s or blueberry’s, nor could my wife. Had a medicinal taste to it. The only positive I could say is that the alcohol was well hidden. I have a bottle that I will cellar and try at a later date, hopefully for a better a review.

Pours a one-finger white head that fades immediately leaving no lace. Clear amber with red tinge color. Sweet fruity nose. Strong carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is sweet and sour, slightly fruity with raspberry, blueberry is hidden and so is the high ABV. Nice clean finish. Bottled 2/12/2007, $11.19 for a 750ml bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

Poured a dark amber almost redish color big head almost no lacing. Aroma was of berries go figure. Flavor was of both blue and blackberries like it was supposed to be but would have to agree with eagle was kinda fake. Expected more from this one.

Pours amber in color with little to no head. Had a fruity aroma. Light spice in the flavor and the finish. Not as good as I thought it would be hearing various people talk about it

Label looks like a young Dustin Hoffman in a Little Lord Fauntleroy. Good bronze cap with the shark. Beer pours clear and looks like tawny port. Head is tinged tutti-fruity. Buttery tangy flavor, moderately astringent, pretty fruity. Nothing special - none of the DFH special brews are particularly satisfying, they’re just wierd. Berry pie aroma. Off the beaten path, unfinished in a lot of ways, not worth the $14 that I paid for the bottle though.
