COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

I had a hard time bringing in the aroma which is why I rated the aroma so low. This beer reminds my palate of a champagne which is interesting. For a 10% beer I do not taste any alcohol. The finish is clean and leaves the mouth quickly without room for an after taste. I would drink this beer again but it was not one of my favorites.

Pours a pink-tinted amber with a susdsy white head that dimineshes quickly. I swear I saw a slight blue tint when I was pouring it. Smells like a syrupy lager with a tartness to it. The flavour is surprisingly weak and the palate is very thin. The carbonation is spritzy and pleasant. The masking of the alcohol is incredible, though. Itís spicy, grainy, mildly bitter, but hardly fuity. I was expecting to taste some blueberry. Almost champaign-like. Good for the women.

Pours a ruby hue amber colour with a small fizzy head , medium carbonation. Aroma is different with blueberries and malts. No booze is apparent. Flavour is light with berry, medium body, and dry finish. The palate is that not complex and aftertaste is to a minimum.

Nice clear red with a pinkish head. Aroma is somewhat sour and muted. Taste is rather boozy with the berry taste in the backseat. Carbonation is just right, but the heavy alcohol presence adds a shudder to the finish. $11/22oz

The most surprising thing about htis beer is the lack of real berry flavor that is covered up by its strong Alcohol content. The rest of the beer is nice and clean with a mild lactic body, and a strong head. worth a try though.

The aroma is very yeasty and fruity with caramel and not much blue berry or black berry. There is also a {corn in the basement} element there that I can only assume is the yeast. The appearance is clear amber with a huge hand and a half head when poured. The flavor has fruit as well as malt and yeast but the berries are subdued. Itís also quite acidic. The palate is smooth but thin. The finish is dry. This is one of those beer that are great to try once but not one that would be great to drink on a regular basis.

Pours an amber color with a slight tint of purple with a slightly pinkish head. Aroma is of plenty of raspberries and blueberries with sweet malts, and some yeast. Flavor was pretty much the same, couldnít really tell this was a 10% brew because there wasnít much alcohol warming to it. Seemed slightley thinner then I thought it should be. Definetely not my favorite DFH brew.

This beers aroma was very fruity, duh though seeing that its fermented with blueberry puree and black raspberries. The appearance is actually a purpleish color. Flavor was sweet, a little sour and hint of bitterness. It is a weell rounded beer overall. If you are a dogfish fan of course try it.

Pours clear dark red, almost cough syrup color, with LOTS of head. Flavor was not as strong of a berry flavor as expected, but good. Hints of the 10% alcohol were there.

Pours ruby red, big white head. Aroma is berries but not strong. You can tell that they added the fruit during fermentation because all the sugars have been sucked up. The flavor was very dry and the berries were hardly there with no punch to them at all and a dry irony wine like bite in the finish. I was really looking for more sour and tartness out of this one. Another horrible Dogfish experiment, I didnít finish my glass and neither did the girl I was with.
