COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2012 Pours a nice deep ruby with pinkish head. Aroma is distinctly Belgium- fermented fruit and etoh. Taste is warm with alcohol burn and some fermented berries.. A ramped up triple without the complexity that one would expected

On tap, pours a clear blueish pink color with a medium white head that leaves good lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, blackberry, blueberry, and pepper. Tastes of all the same things in the smell and is very fruit forward. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with great carbonation. This is one of my favorite fruit beers around. I like the way they mix the base Belgian golden aspect with fruit. Thanks for another great beer Dogfish Head.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled in 2012A. Pours moderately cloudy orange copper color with a nice 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big tart raspberry, blueberry, grape, raisin, clove, light molasses, red wine, and earthy yeast spiciness. Very nice aromas with a good balance of yeast esters with the big authentic fruit notes; with a nice malt/spicy ester balance as well. Taste of tart raspberry, blueberry, grape, raisin, clove, light molasses, bread, red wine, and earthy yeast spiciness. Fair amount of fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart raspberry, dark fruits, clove, light molasses, bread, red wine, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice balance and complexity of fruit flavors; with a good balance of malt/yeast spiciness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and full bodied; with a slick and moderately syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice imperial Belgian fruit beer. Nice complexity of fruit flavors and balance of spicy yeast esters; and very smooth to sip on for a 10% brew. A very enjoyable offering.

hazy pinkish pour, full head. heavy fruit aroma and flavors. Good, but high in fruit taste. Tart finish, well balanced, typical off the wall brew from this brewery.

Pours a reddish colour with a bit of brown with white carbonate. Smells of berry fusion and tastes of blue and blackberries with bitter aftertaste. Pretty much exactly what i was expecting. to the fruit brew enthusiasts this is a homerun. To me it is ok. Just a bit too fruity for me.

Bottle. Hazy red/pink liquid with small light pink head. Aroma of bready malt, light lacto, biscuit and very light red berries. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of red berries, bread and wine. Light alcohol. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. The aroma is a bit bland and doesn’t really show the character of the fruit. Taste is
