COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

750 ml bottle @ home. Color is amber with a red hue. Head is as good as non-existant. Aromaís: sweet fruit (raspberry is evident), some hoppiness too. Retronasal thereís also some alcoholic sweetness. Flavor is medium sweet with hints of fruity tartness and a little bitterness. Rather strong alcohol feel (warms the throat). Medium bodied. Finishes somewhat dry, but the flavor is quickly gone. Worth a try.

On tap. Pours a hazy red copper with a thin off-white head and decent lacing. Smells of berries and alcohol. Tastes a bit of aspirin, sweet, berry, citrus. Very juice-like. Surprisingly low alcohol in the taste. Minor bitterness and a lasting berry aftertaste.

Drank with Uncle Matt. Bought at Majestic in Flagstaff. I think it's a 2015 bottling, couldn't read the printed date well. Cloudy reddish brown pour with a light weak head. Aroma light malt and sweet berry... Blah, blah, blah...OK taste, slightly sweet, with a little fruity with a bitter twang. So just OK. At $14.99 25.4 oz bottle, not worth it. Matt said it wasn't bad, didn't like the "dirty" aftertaste.

Oohee!! Love this. Nice red color. Great flavor, tastes like a lambic. Almost some raspberry flavor. Good stuff.

Rich blueberry raspberry aroma. An opaque red and blue body with a thin head that has a reddish tinge. Taste has a raspberry tartness smoothed out by hint of blueberry. Dry crisp finish. Refreshing and rich. A hint of warmth is the only clue to the true strength of this brew.

Pour a dee reddish/purple color with a very small sized head. Aromas of black cherries, caramel and all around berries (cranberries, strawberries and more). Tastes of black berries and all around berries. Had a black cherry tartness in the finish. Light alcohol, that turned stronger as it warmed, in the finish.

From notes. Had this one at Danís in Saline. Jacob pulled this one out of Danís basement stash for us. 750 mL bottle that pours a nice, dark copper color with a light white foamy head that falls down to a film leaving a little bit of lace. This one does not look like a fruit beer at all. Surprising. The aroma has a little bit of fruitiness to it, but nothing like what I was expecting. Itís got a lot of bready malts and a strong wheatiness to it. There is a little spice, and I think this has to have Belgian yeast in it. The flavors are very light. There is a light fruit thatís almost drowned out by a strong spicy malt. The mouth feel is again light, but a fruit beer should be. There is a decent carbonation to it, though itís a little soft and velvety. The aftertaste is where this one kind of fails. Itís very malty and dry, but carries that spicy malt to it. I donít like it. Itís not a fruit bomb, but it should be. More fruit could help this one out.

Blueberry smell of course, mild but complex...taste is more bitter and dry than I anticipated... Thought it would be sweeter..light alcohol burn...but pretty smooth...malty...blueberry but mild...semi cloudy reddish appearance...slightly sour...a bit better with time

Treated as a straight up fruit beer, this was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a glossy purple to brown color with a slight transparency about it. Floaties bounce off of carbonation rising to fill a one finger white to off white foamy head. It dissipates at a nice pace and leaves a small fairly thick ring of foamy lacing around the glass. The smell starts off with a some blackberries and blueberries (obviously, right!) and blends into a light caramel to biscuity maltiness. The taste was a nice mix between the blackberries and blueberries to a little bit of spiciness from the Belgian yeast. Yields more to the biscuity side than the caramel side in the taste. Its somewhat fruity in the aftertaste yet allows the spice to hit in the finish nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good as it is and falls in and around my tongue appropriately. Overall, as a fruit beer, it works, with the Belgian spices snapping in and around my tongue, it wants to let you know, "hey, Iím not just any old fruit beer." Iíd have this again, nice beer.

Exactly as stated. Fruit is fresh and strong. Belgium is yeasty. Nice aroma and thick palates. Tap
