3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Holy wow! This pours dark and near black with a thin head and really no lacing to speak of. Mint mint mint and more mint in the nose giving this a unique candycane aroma. There is also a chocolate quality that gives this a special layer of complexity. This all translates to the palate making it taste like a chocolate covered candycane. The only problem is that the mint is too over powering.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
From the tap poured a dark brown color with a good amount of head. Strong fruity sweet stout flavor with an odd lingering mint flavor.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at DFH. Poured very dark with a small sized head. Aromas of mint, fruity, roast, and chocolate. Tastes of alcohol, raspberries, and mint. Syrupy and sweet. Had a hard time finishing up a sampler size.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Draft at the Busy Bee in Raleigh. Almost black pour with dark ruby tint snd huge head. Nose of roast grain, chocolate, some raspberry, and mint. Fair enough... but the taste... a total mess: super minty, sweet, chocolatey, and raspberry syrup. Imagine mixing a tablespoon of Crest with a half cup of raspberry jam, dumping half a container of Hershey’s syrup on top, and then dumping that into a pint of imperial stout. Blech.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Opaque black with a tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, and mint with light alcohol as well. Taste was much of the same, light raspberry there as well, alcohol came through to cut the cloying mint and roasted notes. Glad I only had 1 sip of this.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at Rehoboth brewpub. Poured a very deep brown with a thin dense tan head that laced the glass. The aroma was dominated with hints of mint, dried dark fruits and cocoa. Then it all went wrong. Too complex for its own good, a ridiculous blend of fruits and mint with a subtle underlying hint of traditional style stout. Very medicinal. Smooth and creamy texture with light prickly carbonation.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the charlotte flying saucer, served in a tulip snifter. Liquid is a deep black opaque that thins with a reddish cast. Nose is something chocolatey but with hints of mint. Taste is full chocolate cherry mint. Strong, full and powerful. Definitely a sipping drink. Aftertaste is lingering sweet mint kiss. Mouthful is full, luxurious and silk. Powerful amazing beer.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2011 Wow. Sampled on draft at BeerRun. what a crazy beer. Definitely dessert in a glass. Jet black pour with good brown head ring. Massive mix of chocolate and mint that smells EXACTLY like a york peppermint patty. Flavor is just over the top, alcohol is hot, and its almost like drinking chocolate syrup. The flavor is also more medicinal, like menthol mouthwash from after you visit the dentist. Certainly glad I only had a shot to drink, couldn’t have had more than an ounce or two in one sitting!

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black color. Aroma of mint and chocolate. Med lite sweetness, lite bitter, and a slight tartness from the fruit. Fairly complex. Med body. Kind of like the mintiness in here. Creamt texture. Glad I tried it but don’t think I would buy again.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, a superb pungent mix of raspberry mash and chocolate, red wine, lactic notes, some light Brett notes. In mouth, sweet raspberry chocolate sunday, alcohol warmth, lactic points, very nice. On tap at Oregon Brewer’s Fest, July 31 2011.
