3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Opaque black with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, berries, smoked malts, and alcohol. Taste of roast, dark chocolate, burnt wood, and a tart blackberry taste, with some alcohol in the finish, and a fizzy mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A Sim rate (randallized at EBF): such a weird beer but I like the combo of flavours. Smells so distinctly of basil & sage. Sweet but very savoury. Appearance is exactly what I like: dark with a biege head. Tastes again of sage, thyme, basil & rosemary. So herbal and delicious. Bit of spice... almost like a chili flavour. Really like it...novel as it is!

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at the brewpub. Dirt and butterscotch nose. Black, no head. Dirty currant flavor. More sour than expected from an imperial stout. I appreciate the earthiness, the sourness seems out of place. Lacking body and balance, too sour.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tried at Churchkey in DC. Overall very good looking stout. Overall very weird tasting as well. The Thai basil dominated the smell/flavor but the blackberries were present. Very watery aftertaste. Iím glad this is a one off because I donít ever want to drink this again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at ChurchKey in DC for the release night yesterday.Got to meet Sam there too- I think we agreed that this beer had become very sour from the blackberries- interesting though.
It pours nearly pitch black with a thin but menacing, super rocky, dark brown head that has insane retention and leaves sheety lacing all the way down the glass. Aroma is Thai basil all the way. Taste is sour blackberries, Thai basil, rich soybeans (not soy sauce). Big whipcream, oily, buttery palate. But it is still has a watery body. More of an imperial porter like World Wide Stout. Interesting- glad I tried it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Churchkey event in DC on November 21st. Pours a deep dark color with a very small off-white head that dissipates almost immediately from my memory. Aroma is pleasant, with notes of spices and fruit (basil and berries). Relatively smooth, not harsh. Touches of chocolates. It wasnít as ground shattering as I may have initially expected it would be, but it was quite enjoyable. Iím not sure it is something I would drink with any regularity, but it was fun to try. And hopefully Iíll get the chance.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Rehoboth Brewpub-Dark ruby pour w/one of the brownest heads Iíve ever seen on a brew & good lacing which lasted well into the beer. Sweet fruity aroma. The raspberries hit you right up front, quality flavor of dark fruit, not some cheap fruit extract. Has some red grape flavor to it as well w/touches of yeast, spice, & chocolate w/a good bit of carbonation. I got no real coffee flavor out of this brew. This is the time where I am once again forced to break out my standard Dogfish Brewpub Exclusive Summery line-"this was a little different, but it was quite enjoyable". Long Raspberry/Chocolate finish.
