Commercial Description:
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

Very solid nose of citrus and pine hops with some wood from the barrels. Pours a nice orange hue with OK head, but the taste is where this beer makes itself notable. Very strong tropical fruit hops fading into a somewhat sweet, caramel finish.

12 oz. bottle at redlight redlight. This beer really isn’t as amazing as its ridiculously complex brewing and blending process suggests that it should be. That being said, it’s still a good beer as far as the hoppy, high alcohol malt bombs go. Probably its best quality is its cloudy amber appearance. The nose is good too. I couldn’t really tell you what it smells like but it has hints of oak in it. Also, the usual piny hops and caramel malts. The flavor is, you know, pretty bitter, just a tad sweet. Pretty much like a strong ale should taste I guess. I mean, I can talk until I’m blue in the face, so just try it already.

Mother of all that is sacred. If ever a stranger offered this to me, they would then immediately be a friend. Smells like spruce, caramel/butterscotch hard candy and warm wood stove. Flavor is buttery sweet and slightly woody with the hops coming through in a piney resin type presence that escapes through the nostrils as I exhale. Luscious creamy mouthfeel on the back of a medium sticky body. This thing taste like the wilderness and feels just as fresh and true. If a companion this would not be your "bitch", but rather your "lady". One of this brewers best and one of this styles best. Thank You Dogfish Head. 2009 12oz.

26th May 2008. Juicy hops that are never too bitter. Very well joined up with vanilla and woody oak tones. A lip smacking beer!

Oaky oatmeal aroma with babyfood on the edges. Clear copper, thick yellow head, good carbonation, some lacing. Oaky boysenberry and date flavor with a more bitter horehound finish. Alcohol evident but tasteful, medium body. Fruitier and oakier older brother to 90 Minute. Pretty nice concoction!

Pours light amber with a big off white head. Aroma is a nice blend of citrusy, resiny and tropical fruit hop with a nice mellow oakiness as well. Flavor is a blend of citrusy, and piney hops as well a nice malty backbone and a slight oak flavor. Very good.

Draft at blind lady: pours with gigantic head of cream color atop a glimmering golden clearness. Smells of sweet accented hops with nice orange molassis and ribbon candy. Thick, creamy body brings somewhat sweet and orange-like hop flavors. A little syrupy in texture but not too bad...hops are a little flimsy in the finish as well...but overall not too bad. The oak comes through quite strong in the finish combining with alcohol to allow you to breath orange flavored hop fire

12 oz bottle. Aroma is fruity--grapefruit citrusy, sweet. Pours amber with minimal head, decent lacing. Tastes of raisins, molasses, and alcohol that lingers in the aftertaste. Tastes more like a barleywine than an imperial IPA, but labels aren’t important, right? Good brew.
