andersand (271), Malmö, Sweden Apr 11, 2009 Looks very inviting with a deep amber colour and a decent off-white head. Very nice aroma of sweet malt and vanilla, caramell and some fudge. The bottle was obviously too old wich made it taste like a oak aged barleywine without any extraordinary complexity, still drinkable and pretty nice with a big caramell, vanilla/oak flavour alongside a pretty good hop bitterness and light lingering alcohol sweetness. beergod (97), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 9, 2009 Updated: May 6, 2009All in all pretty good.16 dollars a 4pk good? The nose is very nice. Citrus, light grain, but mostly clean hops. The brew pours a nice dark, crisp, very nice copper. Taste is of nice hops and i can’t really taste the barrel conditioning. Great beer if you don’t mind paying for it. beerandIT (177), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 8, 2009 Interresting beer. Hops on the nose with a pleasant smell of oak. Dark reddish ruby color with a small amount of head that leaves a bit too soon. Fun beer from Dogfish Head. Sweet hops and with a bit of a nice malt oak finish. dankman38 (228), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Apr 4, 2009 On tap in a tulip;pours clear amber with minimal head; grapefruit/virus with a hint of pine (pleasant but not overwhelming); a tangy bitter that finishes the same way. This beer is a good example of this style, nothing fancy but very solid. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Apr 3, 2009 light hops for such a beast, with oak and honey .. . dark tan in color, some low foam in a ring .. . light fizziness, mud hop oil covering .. . you can taste some oak, and molasses hops .. . some nice stuff going on here, there .. a great session beer in a single serving bottle .. . MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2009 341 ml bottle courtesy of HogtownHarry. Deep and hazy mahogany. Pours a frothy beige cap. Leaves some pretty lace. Nose is toffee and caramel, peaches and orange. Some woody earthy hops too. Tastes of caramel, vanilla, lots of oak, quite fruity too. Flavours of brown sugar are huge. The hops don’t play as much as a role as I thought they would, and overall this is a lot sweeter than I expected. The finish does show earthy caramel malts with fresh hop bitterness. Long finish. Reminds of of a sweeter version of 90 minute, or what I’d expect 90 minute to taste like blended with a Fuller’s Vintage Ale. Thanks for the bottle Harry! Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Mar 25, 2009 Ok I don’t understand this. Says IIPA but not at all. Overly sweet of caramel and oak. Think and chewy. garthicus (1216), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 18, 2009 Thanks to HogTownHarry for good willing this to me. Appearance: Cherry/orange/brown with a frothy white head. Aroma: Hops, yeast, some wood notes with malt and sweetness coming through. Flavour: Chewy sweet, alcohol, malt, wood again, hops there but I’m surprised to see this is a Double IPA. A caramel/maple syrup finish. All in all a great beer but not what I expected. Thanks Harry.
