12 oz. pours with a bit of head, beautiful deep orange-amber body. Aroma is sweet and fruity, with a hint of grass maybe?. Palate is smooth and rich, but not heavy. Flavor is simply delicious, could be just a notch up on the finish, would like a little more of a fine spirit finish, and a notch too sweet. Starts out quite sweet, which persists, but shows floral esters and raw sugar cane in addition to some light fruits. As it is, the high abv is only noticeable by its pleasant effect. Overall, thoroughly enjoyable with or without food.

Pours hazy burnt orange with tiny tan head. Nose of dates, overripened fruits, bread, and alcohol. Thick, chewy palate. A little hot and alcoholic and sweet but a characterful take.

12oz bottle from World of Beer (Largo). Pours a dark mahogany brown with a one finger white-tan head that laces glass nicely. Smells of hops, oak, grapefruit, citrus. Flavor is muted citrus and grapefruit with bready-oakiness with notes of vanilla. Finish is surprisingly sweet.

Pours deep amber, with the effervescence of orange hues. An eggshell head diminishes from a cap to a thin ring, leaving soapy lace. The nose contains sweet malt, dried fruits and tiny herbal notes, all earthen-oak enhanced. Well-bittered and nicely integrated into the overall flavor palate, the wood shines through lightly toasted malts and sticky pine sap. Some sweet toffee/caramel notes and a minor tart are present, with the Glacier hop predominance finishing off an earthy pull, lightly peppering the back-palate and lingering well. Alcohol warms the mouth after the end of the pull. This is certainly complex enough, with a mouthfeel on the crisper side (carbo levels) of oily, in lieu of a sticky palate. Again, very well integrated, and a definite "fork" on the traditional impy IPA. An interesting rate, and I’m glad I picked up a few so that I will be allowing the other to age to sample at a later date. If the character changes, I will re-rate accordingly. Nice job.

Dark orange-copper pour with a dense off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, caramel, dark fruit, slight vanilla and oak, orange peel, and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is very sweet malts up front. Lots of caramel and dark fruit. As you swallow and the sweetness fades there’s a big hit of alcohol followed by lingering bitterness and a hint of oak. Thick creamy mouth feel with just a touch of carbonation.

Bottle thanks to dchmela. Pours a deep orange to brownish color, quite hazy and with a thin off white head. Smells kind of raisiny and bitter. Flavour is much along those lines, tastes almost like a barleywine. There’s not a whole lot of hop flavour, it starts out pretty raisiny with a bit of dark fruit, and some sweet malts, then the bitterness hits, and sticks in your mouth. It’s actually pretty nice. Mouthfeel is really creamy and thick, and carbonation is low, but nice. It’s got some almost vanilla sort of flavours there too, and there is some alcohol warmth, though not really any taste or burn.

Bottle marked 12/29/05, thanks to drewbeerme. Pours dark orange/red with a very small off-white head, specks of lace. Smells deep, sweet malty with a slight, dark hop character. Tastes caramelly malty with lots of sweet, syrupy, grassy hop flavor. This beer is pretty good still, tastes alot like a hoppy barleywine alla Stone 10th. Full, syrupy body, subdued but good carbonation.

Bottle. Maple syrup colored, light tan head that sticks around. Nice warm malty nose, some alcohol, wood. The flavor comes in somewhere close to a barleywine with the deeper malt backgone than most IIPAs, and the sharp carbonation makes it very easy to drink. Flavor blend hop bitterness, pine, oak, and syrup with a nice warming alcohol finish. Really clean mouthfeel. Great brew.
