The aroma was acidic with a touch of grape. There is a sharp sweetness and subtle fruit to the taste and the finish is almost that of a barleywine. There is some bitterness but is seems to be overpowered by the malt and alcohol. Not a bad beer. 17thfloor (1452), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Sweet malty and very woody aroma with lots of fresh piney and fruity hops. Weighty mouthful, beautiful small bubbly carbonation. What a unique flavor! Woody, piney, fruity, slightly burnt candied malts, pineapple, melon... Sure its sweet but its also got a fair amount of bittering. Wish I had another for aging. A DFH I actually like... who know =p 8.5.9.5.18
[Rerate 4.27.09 - bottled 3.30.09] Pours a gorgeous glowing clear red with a thick medium white fine frothy head. Great hoppy aroma, piney, floral, perfume, vanilla, sweet sugary crystal malt. This stuff is so smooth, what a flavor. Fantastic balance for such strong flavors, the oak, vanilla and mellow malts are perfect with the floral piney hops. Easily the best bottle of double IPA I’ve had in months besides Double Trouble. The oak and hops are a more sophisticated balance than that of ST Oak Aged Un*Earthly. Doesn’t seem as sweet as last years, definitely hoppier. Some caramel, ever so slightly near burnt. Super clean finish with a long lasting oak and floral hop aftertaste. Medium/full bodied with a big mouthful that feels quite light, super fine consistent smooth fluffy fizzy carbonation, not sticky at all. That is delicious.

Poured a mostly clear orange with a small off white head that yielded some lacing. Insane floral hop aromas with some resin, must and oak. Flavor was hoppy, spicy and sweet. Reminded me of a tamed 120min. Taverner (837), San Ramon, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 31, 2008 Aroma is a malty, grassy and slightly oakey smell. Flavor does not deviate from this - it’s full of malt, almost like a barleywine. The hops character is piney and bitter, but there is an oak (from the aging) to its bitterness. The 90min provides the grassy hop aroma, giving it a full IPA flavor with the oak notes. pepperford (115), robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA

Hints a malt, oak, caramel in the aroma, but not overpowering. Taste is slightly sweet malty, with a hop bitterness that give a lot of citrus grapefruit dryness. Really big overpowering hop attack in the taste that you just can’t see coming in th aroma. Leaves a hop, grapefruit bitter aftertaste. Very enjoyable beer. blipp (1638), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours red/orange with a lasting beige head. Fruity aroma with citric hops and caramel. Medium, smooth body. Soft hops in the flavor, great balance of bitter and sweet, also a note of caramel. Aging gives it an interesting dimension, though I don’t know if it really makes it any better. Nice nonetheless.
