aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 5, 2008 The color was orange/red. The head was creamy, thin, and light biege. The aroma was very hoppy, pine, and citris. The flavor was hoppy, vanilla, oak, pine, and citris. The alcohol was well masked. The palate was medium-bodied. The finish was warm. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Has a hazy burnt amber color with some red and orange hues coming through. The head is about 1 cm off white that disappeared very quickly. The aroma is a very sweet brown sugar with a lot of hoppiness; mostly citrus. There are some hints of floral in there too. I don’t really get the oak. The flavor is a well-balanced malt and hops. Lots of caramel, fruit, and alcohol. The fruit isn’t just citrus, maybe some strawberry? The finish is a very warming alcohol, maybe a little bit too much. The body is rich and creamy, helped out by the carbonation, even though there isn’t a lot visible. juiceisloose (644), Windermere, Florida, USA Apr 5, 2008 This one poured a dark orange color with a thin white head that left minimal lacing behind. The aroma was of citrus and piney hops, a little bit of oak, and some sweet caramel malt. The flavor followed suit with the piney and citrus hops dominating in the forefront with a pretty soild malt backbone. There is a little bit of oak and vanilla in the taste that balances this one out nicely. The oak wasn’t as prevalent as I thought it would be, but probably because this one was fresh. The body was medium-full with a creamy texture with a bitter sweet finish. This was pretty good, and one I will revisit once it sits awhile. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Apr 5, 2008 Nice amber pour with a wonderful aroma. Flavor is sweet, hops, malts, spice, I don’t know. Finish is dry and inviting. Excellent beer. BenDover (125), Texas, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours a beautiful deep amber color, about a finger of dense off-white foam. Aroma very spicy and complex, some coriander, apple, cinnamon. Flavor is not at all what I expected, but OH SO GOOD. Strong alcohol warmth to it, but not the in-your-face hops I was expecting. Instead, a pleasant complex spiciness much like the aroma. This is a spectacular beer. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 5, 2008 12 oz brown bottle, not corked. Just yer everyday bottle. Atwitter fragrance of pine or grapefruit rind. Adenoidal volatility. Slight hazy orange glow. Scabrous initial flavors. Certainly not adiaphorous. Too much for this dilettante. Has a lotta nerve. This beer is videlicet IPA. Perhaps a little better than I expected. Burping spruce pine needles. Blended? duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Apr 4, 2008 Bottle thanks to "The Cad". Pretty heavily sweet stuff. Lots of sweet caramelly malt and sweet sappy hop notes. Some oaky flavours do come through in the flavour, which add to the complexity a little bit as it is predominantly sweet. The finish shows some bitterness and warm alcohol. Although the alcohol is fairly well masked considering it is 10%. Too much sweetness for me. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Apr 3, 2008 Darker copper amber color with a good head, good lacing. Complex malt and hoppy, balanced aroma. Thick syrupy mouthfeel. Strong malt and hop character and flavor. A little bit, no a lot af wooden (oak) character. This beer’s got balls. Slightly bitter finish. A little burn on the backend.
